"do you always hide behind your camera, or is it just around me?"
"i don't hide. i just don't waste my time on people who think they're better than everyone else."

IT ALL began on the day of the annual photography competition. The air buzzed with excitement as students displayed their best work, each hoping to win the top prize. Among them was Yeseul, a quiet girl with a love for capturing candid moments. She had entered the competition with little expectation of winning, more interested in sharing her passion than anything else.
At the other end of the hall stood Heeseung, surrounded by his friends. He was a well known perfectionist, and his photos were always admired for their technical brilliance. But today, something was different- he seemed unusually distracted, his gaze repeatedly flickering over to Yeseul's display.
"Heeseung, are you even going to bother submitting your photos this time? You know you've already won", one of his friends teased, nudging him.
Heeseung remained silent, his eyes locked on Yeseul's work. The photos she'd submitted were nowhere near his- unpolished, raw and unadorned. They were the opposite of his carefully crafted shots and yet,.....something about them unsettled him.
"She's really trying, huh?", another friend commented, glancing over at Yeseul's display. "But we all know who's going to win".
Heeseung's jaw tightened. He didn't know why it bothered him so much, but something about her photos felt like a challenge- one he wasn't sure he could easily win. The thought of losing to someone, made his blood boil.
Just then, another friend, sensing the tension, decided to push him.
"If you won't do it, I will", they said, smirking as they gestured towards Yeseul's display. "Go on, show her who's the real photographer here".
Heeseung's pride wouldn't let him back down. Without another word, he walked over to Yeseul's display, camera in hand. As Yeseul watched, confused and slightly intimidated, he lifted his camera and snapped a picture of her, as if to say, I'm better than you, and I'll prove it.
The flash blinded her for a moment, and before she could react, Heeseung was already turning away, heading back to his friends. He didn't need to say anything- his actions spoke louder than words.
But when the competition results were announced, and Yeseul's photos were declared the winner, the shock of Heeseung's face was undeniable. For the first time, someone had challenged him- and won.
From that day forward, Heeseung's quiet resentment towards Yeseul grew into something more intense. He couldn't stand the sight of her, the way her presence reminded him of his defeat. And though Yeseul didn't fully understand why, she knew one thing for certain:
Heeseung hated her, and it was a hatred that would only deepen as time went on.

(a/n: so this story will be a bit lighthearted and an easy read compared to my other books right now, I aimed for giving it like a manhwa kinda feel and the quirkiness of usual rom-com manhwas.
additional info as always: •the work is entirely fictional and anything relating to real life is pure coincidence.
•whatever mentioned here is not related to the members real lives in any way.
•english is not my first language so there might be grammatical errors.
•cursing and mention of drinking will be present throughout the storyline.
