"do you always hide behind your camera, or is it just around me?"
"i don't hide. i just don't waste my time on people who think they're better than everyone else."

THE UNIVERSITY Freshers' Party had all the hallmarks of a formal, somewhat restricted event. Held in the grand hall of the university, students arrived in attire that was elegant but modest, sticking to the strict dress code enforced by the administration. Yeseul and Chaerin, both dressed in relatively simple outfits that adhered to the guidelines, exchanged bored glances as they navigated through small talk, introduction speeches, and long-winded formalities.
Chaerin whispered to Yeseul, "This party's a total drag, huh? I'm counting the minutes till we can leave."
Yeseul chuckled softly, nodding in agreement, "Yeah, that now you mention it, I'm counting it too."
The latter smirked, "Of course, at least the secret party's going to be worth it." She glanced down at her relatively conservative outfit, the dark fabric of her jacket covering a far more daring sleek black dress underneath.
Yeseul's outfit, also layered beneath a blazer, was just as bold- a fitted dress that would've earned her more than a few disapproving looks by the professors. "I feel like I'm in disguise," she muttered.
"Yeah, I know. We've still got to get through all these boring speeches and introductions," Chaerin sighed, her gaze sweeping across the room, noticing the formal setting around them.
Yeseul nodded, her mind already drifting to what lay ahead. The secret party, whispered about by almost everyone on campus, was where the real excitement was going to happen. And though they didn't know who was hosting it at first. Chaerin had recently found out that it was none other than Park Jay- Heeseung and Sunghoon's wealthy, notoriously wild friend.
"I heard the secret party is going to be insane," Chaerin added, her eyes gleaming. "Apparently, Jay goes all out, and even the university has no idea it's even happening."
Yeseul let out a faint smile, the night was just about to get interesting.

After the formal Freshers' Party came to a slow end, with students quietly slipping out, Chaerin wasted no time in dragging the other feminine out of the hall. They quickly went over to Yeseul's apartment as it was the closest to the university.
Chaerin helped the latter apply makeup to match their more daring outfits, while the two had Chase Atlantic blasting off Yeseul's phone.
Yeseul examined herself in the mirror, taking in the transformation from her formal, university-approved look to the bold version of herself. Her dress, sleek and daring, hugged her frame in a way that made her feel both nervous and excited. The makeup was a perfect mix of glam and glitter making her look like she'd stepped out of a high-fashion magazine.
"You look hot, babe," Chaerin said with a grin, eyeing her reflection with approval. "Trust me, everyone's going to be checking you out tonight."
Yeseul smiled, though there was still some hint of hesitation in her eyes. She wasn't used to this level of boldness, but tonight, something about the secret party felt different- like she could let loose, even if it was just for a while.
Chaerin finished her own look, equally as stunning in her black dress. "Alright, it's time to go. Let's show them what they've been missing out on."

As they arrived at the location of the secret party, the atmosphere was already a stark contrast to the formal event they had just left behind. The venue was hidden away, out of the sight from the prying eyes of university officials. A sprawling estate just outside campus, complete with extravagant decorations, music blasting from the entrance, and a sea of students dressed in outfits that pushed the boundaries of what was considered "acceptable" for a university event.
Jay, standing near the entrance, was unmistakable in his sharp- all decked in denim fit. Heeseung and Sunghoon were already there, blending into the crowd, though both had ditched their blazers in favor of more relaxed, but still stylish, outfits for the night. As soon as Yeseul and Chaerin entered, their eyes locked with Jay's, who gave them a casual nod of approval and his signature smirk.
"Welcome to the real party, ladies," Jay said with a grin as they passed by.
The music pulsed through the air, and Yeseul could already tell this was going to be an entirely different experience. There was an electricity in the air, a sense of freedom and unpredictability that had been sorely missing from the earlier event. And though she tried to push it out of her mind, the thought of the 'cursed' camera still lingered in the back of her thoughts.
Heeseung, standing by the bar, caught sight of her, his gaze lingering a little longer than usual. There was something in his eyes that hadn't been there before- something more intense, more curious. Sunghoon, who was standing nearby, seemed to notice it too. The tension between the two brothers, already simmering beneath the surface, was bound to escalate at some point tonight.
Chaerin nudged the latter as they made their way deeper into the crowd. "Let's have some fun, yeah?"
Yeseul nodded, but even as she smiled and let herself get swept up in the excitement of the night, her mind kept drifting back to that photo- that one of Heeseung from high school, the one that shouldn't exist. It felt like a strange omen, a reminder that no matter how much she tried to move forward, something- or someone- was always pulling her back.
The night was just the beginning, and the drama was only about to unfold.
