"do you always hide behind your camera, or is it just around me?"
"i don't hide. i just don't waste my time on people who think they're better than everyone else."

YESEUL ADJUSTED her bag strap as she stepped off the bus, her legs aching from the long day. The night had deepened into a cool navy, stars barely visible through the haze of the city lights. She stifled a yawn as she turned around the corner and walked toward her apartment building.
But she stopped in her tracks when she saw him.
Heeseung was casually leaning against the low brick wall outside the building, his phone in hand. The warm glow from the nearby streetlamp softened the sharp lines of his face, but there was no mistaking the tension in his posture.
"What are you doing here?" Yeseul blurted out before she could stop herself.
He looked up, his dark eyes locking onto hers for a moment. For a moment, he said nothing, just slid his phone into his pocket. "I live here, too, remember?"
She rolled her eyes, "I know. I meant- why are you standing out here like a weirdo?"
He smirked, pushing off the wall and taking a step closer. "Waiting for you, apparently."
Her brows furrowed. "Why?"
"Why not?" he countered, his tone infuriatingly nonchalant.
Yeseul let out an exasperated sigh. She wasn't in the mood for whatever game he was playing. "If you don't have a real reason, I'm going inside."
She brushed past him, her sneakers crunching against the gravel. But before she could reach the door, his voice stopped her.
"Yeseul."
She paused, her hand hovering over the door handle. His tone wasn't teasing anymore. It was quieter, more serious.
"What?" she asked, not turning around.
"Are you really going out with Sunghoon?"
The question hit her like a punch to the gut. She turned slowly, her heart thudding in her chest. "Why do you care?"
Heeseung's jaw tightened, his eyes narrowing. "Just answer the question."
She crossed her arms over chest, a defensive barrier between them. "Yes, I am. Happy now?"
For a split second, something flashed in his eyes- hurt? Anger? She couldn't tell. But it was gone as quickly as it came, replaced by his usual mask of indifference.
"Of course," he said with a bitter edge to his voice. "Sunghoon's a great guy. Perfect, even. You two make sense."
