THE WARM glow of the apartment's dim lights cast a cozy atmosphere, a sharp contrast to the turmoil brewing inside Yeseul's mind. She sat cross-legged on the plush couch, a half-empty bottle of soju in hand, while Chaerin lounged beside her, casually take sips from her bottle.

Yeseul took another swing, her brow furrowed in frustration. "Why did I say that, Chaerin? I practically said yes to Sunghoon. What was I thinking?" She let out a groan, burying her face in her hands.

Chaerin, ever the calm one, raised an eyebrow as she took another sip. "I don't get why you're freaking out. It's Sunghoon, Yeseul. Do you know how many girls would kill to be in your shoes right now?"

Yeseul peeked through her fingers, her voice muffled. "That's exactly the problem. Why did I say yes? I should've just said i couldn't make it. Now I'm stuck going to this party, and what if Heeseung's there too?"

Chaerin rolled her eyes playfully, nudging Yeseul's shoulder. "You're overthinking this, like always. So what if Heeseung's there? It's not like he controls your life. Besides this is Sunghoon we're talking about. You know, the guy who literally makes girls swoon just by walking into a room?"

Yeseul let out a dramatic sigh flopping back against the couch cushions. "It's not about Sunghoon. It's about Heeseung. You know he hates me, Chaerin. If I show up after his brother's invitation. It's just going to make things worse.''

Chaerin tilted her head, a sly smile playing on her lips. ''So... you care that Heeseung might get jealous or something? What's this really about, Yeseul? Do you... like him?"

Yeseul nearly choked on her drink, sitting up quickly and waving her hands in denial. "No! No way! That's not it at all! It's just- he's so...ugh, he's so annoying, and competitive, and he always has to one-up me. I can't even stand him!"

Chaerin let out a laugh, leaning back with a knowing look. "Uh-huh. Sure, you can't stand him . That's why you're so worked up over this. Girl, you need to chill. Have another drink, and stop worrying so much. You're going to the party, you're going to have fun. Maybe something good will come out of it."

Yeseul groaned again, taking another big gulp of her drink as if it would somehow wash away her worries. "Easy for you to say. You're not the one stuck in this mess."

Chaerin grinned, raising her bottle for a toast. "Here's to messes then. They make life interesting."

Reluctantly, Yeseul clinked her bottle against Chaerin's, though her mind was still spinning. She couldn't shake the image of Heeseung's glare across the room, his eyes cold and sharp like daggers. She could already feel the tension building.

''Why do I get the feeling this is all going to blow up in my face?" Yeseul muttered, more tp herself than to Chaerin.

Chaerin laughed again, clearly enjoying her friend's melodrama. "Because, you live for drama. Just admit it. Now, let's have another round, and stop worrying so much. Tomorrow's another day, and tonight, we drink."
