"do you always hide behind your camera, or is it just around me?"
"i don't hide. i just don't waste my time on people who think they're better than everyone else."

YESEUL SAT on the edge of her bed, her fingers tapping mindlessly against the vintage camera resting in her lap. The room was quiet, save for the occasional hum of her fan. After everything that had happened earlier, the silence felt more oppressive than comforting.
Her mind was a chaotic swirl of thoughts. Meeting Sunghoon earlier had been.....unexpected, to say the least. She had gone to the park hoping for answers, but left with more questions than before. And then there was the deal he had struck with her.
The deal.
Yeseul couldn't wrap her head around it. Sunghoon's words had been calm, deliberate yet there was something unsettling in the way he had phrased his proposal. She had told him she needed space to think, and he had let her go without argument. But now, in the back of her room, the weight of his offer pressed heavily on her mind.
"People are already seeing you two together- might as well give them something to talk about that's more controlled."
Reaching for her phone, she turned it on for the second time that day. The screen lit up, immediately bombarding her with notifications- messages, social media tags, group chats.
Ping. Ping. Ping.
The noise was relentless, a cacaphony of demands for her attention. A flood of texts from classmates speculating about the photo. Comments under her recent posts on social media. Even her close friends were asking for the truth.
She swiped through her notifications, her head pounding. She didn't even know truth they wanted.
Scrolling further, her eyes caught a single message sitting apart from the rest. It was from Sunghoon:
Sunghoon: Tell me your answer by tonight.
She stared at the text, her heart skipping a beat. She knew what he was asking.
Her gaze shifted to the camera in her lap. The photos were still there- the ones from the senior year, pictures she had no memory of ever taking. She picked them up and stared the one which was most recently developed.
There she was, standing by a familiar old tree with Heeseung, her face caught mid-laugh. It was a memory that should've been warm, nostalgic, but instead it felt like something out of place, something wrong.
Yeseul looked back at the message.
She bit her lip, his deal was straightforward, and in some twisted way, it made sense. But agreeing to it? It didn't feel right. Still, it might he her best option to get to the bottom of everything.
