THE DOOR swung open, and Yeseul stepped out, feeling the weight of all the eyes in the room immediately. Her heart was pounding from the awkwardness of the last seven minutes, but what made it worse was the chorus of playful but nosy questions that followed.

"Wait, you guys didn't do anything in there?" someone teased, their voice cutting through the buzz of the music.

"Come on, seven minutes in heaven! You gotta at least kiss or something!" another chimed in, their laughter a little too loud.

Yeseul's face flushed with embarrassment as the attention centered on her and Sunghoon. She glanced at him, feeling uncomfortable under the gaze of everyone around them, but before she could say anything, he took a step forward.

Sunghoon's usual calm, soft demeanor shifted. His jaw clenched ever so slightly as he met the eyes of the group, and his voice, usually so gentle, came out firm, almost commanding. "Can we just move on?"

The room fell quiet for a moment, surprised by the edge in his tone. It was unlike him to speak up like that, especially in front of others. His words weren't harsh, but the underlying seriousness in his voice left no room for debate. People exchanged glances but quickly dropped the topic, the playful mood shifting back to the casual party atmosphere.

Yeseul exhaled, relieved as the attention drifted away from them. She caught Sunghoon's eyes and gave him a small, grateful smile. He nodded back at her but said nothing, his gaze flickering toward Heeseung for a brief moment before turning away.

As the game continued on, Yeseul needed some air. She quietly slipped away from the noise and chaos, making her way up to the balcony. The cool night air hit her skin as she stepped outside, and for the first time all evening, she felt like she could breathe again.

She leaned against the railing, watching the scene below. The party was in full swing- people were drunk, some making out in corners, others dancing wildly. It was a typical college party, but up here, it felt like a different world. The stars were barely visible through the haze of the city lights, but it was quiet, peaceful in its own way.

Yeseul wasn't sure how long she had stood there, but after a while, she heard the sound of soft footsteps behind her. She turned to see Sunghoon stepping out onto the balcony, his expression calm but thoughtful. He didn't say anything at first, just walked over to stand next to her, leaning on the railing as well.

"Are you okay?" he asked quietly, his voice soft again, the stern tone from earlier completely gone.

She nodded, though she wasn't entirely sure if she was. "Yeah. Just needed some air."

He glanced at her, and she could feel his eyes on her. There was something different about him tonight. His usual calmness was still there, but there was something else beneath the surface- something which felt like his exterior had cracked, just a bit.

"Thanks," she said, turning to him. "For earlier. I didn't expect them to bombard us with questions like that."

He gave a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. "It's nothing. I just didn't like seeing you uncomfortable."

There was a sincerity in his words that made her chest tighten. She had always thought of Sunghoon as a friend- someone easygoing, dependable, someone just him. But there was a quiet electricity thrumming in the air between them. The way he stood up for her, the way he was looking at her now- it wasn't just friendly concern.

''Sunghoon," she began, but she trailed off, unsure of what to say. She didn't know how to describe the shift she was feeling, both in him and herself.

He glanced at her again, his gaze steady but filled with something unspoken. "What is it?"

"I don't know," she said quietly, looking back at the city lights. "It just feels like....things have changed."

He didn't respond right away. Instead, he looked down at the ground, as if trying to conjure the right words in his mind. When he finally spoke, his voice was even softer than before.

"Maybe things are different."

She turned to him, searching his face for some kind of answer. But all she could see was the same calm expression he would always wear- except this time, there was something more.

Something that would erase all traces of just a 'friend'. Something she didn't know yet.

"Different how?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Sunghoon looked at her for a long moment, and for the first time, she saw a flicker of something vulnerable in his eyes. ''I don't know. I just....I've been thinking a lot lately. About things I never really thought before."

His words hung in the air between them, heavy with meaning. Yeseul's heart skipped a beat, but she wasn't sure if it was the cool night air or the weight of the moment that made her heart palpate a little.

Before she could say anything else, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind them. Yeseul turned to see Jay stepping out into the balcony, he gave her a faint smile before turning to Sunghoon. "Yo, bro, mind coming down for a sec?"

Sunghoon nodded and took a few steps forward but then stopped mid-tracks and turned to look at her as if to ask if she was okay with him leaving.

She lets out a nod with a tight lipped smile as she waves him off to which he mouthed, ''I'll be back."

He left with Jay as she let out a tight breath she never knew she'd been holding, was it wrong of her to come here?
