THE CAFE Sunghoon chose was small but cozy, tucked into the corner of a quiet street away from the usual hustle of Seoul. The warm glow of fairy lights strung along the windows cast a soft golden hue, making it seem like a scene out of a movie.

Yeseul sat across from Sunghoon, her hands wrapped around the mug of steaming coffee he'd ordered for her. The sweet aroma of vanilla mixed with the faint scent of tiramisu which they'd already started sharing.

She'd said that she was fine with any dessert but Sunghoon had insisted that the tiramisu here was to die for.

However, the scrumptious taste of her favorite pastry made a churning appearance in her stomach. With each passing second, gulit-eating the dessert became a way of coping with the current tornado in the back of her mind.

Sunghoon was chatting animatedly, his words flowed effortlessly as he recounted a story about how he once messed up a project deadline in his junior year of high school. Yeseul laughed at the punchline, though she couldn't recall the story at all.

Her mind kept drifting.

It wasn't that Sunghoon wasn't charming- he was. He was attentive, warm, and tried his best to make her laugh. But everytime she managed to get lost in the moment, a different memory would surface:

Heeseung leaning against the doorframe, his eyes dark and unreadable as he watched her with Sunghoon.

She shook her head slightly, forcing herself to refocus.

"Everything okay?" Sunghoon asked, his voice laced with concern.

"Yeah," she said quickly, offering a small smile. "Just tired, I guess."

He nodded, leaning back in his chair as he sipped his drink. There was a moment of silence between them- not awkward, but heavy.

Sunghoon studied her quietly.

"You're still thinking about it, aren't you?" he asked suddenly.

Yeseul blinked. "Thinking about what?"

"The rumors. The way people were treating you." His tone was gentle, but there was a seriousness in his gaze. "You don't have to hide it from me, Yeseul."

Her fingers tightened around her mug. "I guess it's hard not to think about it sometimes," she admitted. "But...it's getting better, right?"

Sunghoon nodded, though he hesitated. "It's getting better because we're giving them something else to talk about."

She glanced at him, unsure how to respond.
