Two years after Amory and Sebastian broke up...
Amory opened his eyes after a long nap. After everything that had happened over the past few years, especially his heartbreak with Sebastian, he deserved this moment to himself — to breathe and forget.
And so, he decided to take a vacation and unwind locally in the Philippines. Mayroon namang mga beaches sa probinsiya nila, but he wanted to experience a different scenery, kaya napagpasyahan niyang sa Palawan na lang magbakasyon.
This was a much-needed break. Masyadong naging outgoing ang buhay niya after his heartbreak noong College he thought that if he just go where the streams take him, aayos ang nararamdaman niya.
But he was wrong. There were many times when he wondered, 'Saan ba nagsimulang magkamali?'
Was it when the relationship began with him making a bet? Pero he was serious throughout the entire pursuit of love. Or was it when he ignored the signs na hindi balanced ang energy na binibigay nila sa relationship?
Masyadong matagal na niyang winawalis ang nararamdaman niya sa ilalim ng basahan. Because honestly, he failed to moved on entirely — not even from the memories they shared.
Inabot niya ang baso ng tubig sa bedside table at uminom mula roon. There was a sense of excitement building inside him as he listened to the waves crashing on the shore.
Ang view kasi sa labas ng accommodation niya ay dagat na at puting pinong mga buhangin.
He excitedly went off his bed to grab his slippers at walang ayos na tumakbo papuntang dagat.
He instantly jump to the water and played like a little kid. Natatawa siya mag-isa dahil sa amazement sa linaw ng tubig at sa mga isdang lumalangoy sa paligid niya.
It was fun until he felt a prick on his feet at ang mabilisang pagkalat ng kirot mula roon. He immediately went out of the water to check.
Medyo nakaramdam siya ng kaba because the cabin he booked accomodations at was very far from other establishments at wala ngang masyadong tao rito.
He checked his toes and there was some black prickly thing stuck on his skin. Shit nakaapak pa ata siya ng sea urchins.
He suddenly had internal panic because he doesn't know what to do. He tried getting the thorns out with just his bare hands pero napuputol lang ang mga iyon.
Napapikit siya sa sobrang frustration na nararamdaman bago huminga ng malalim para ikalma ang sarili. It was very painful.
Tangina kapag minamalas nga naman sa buhay.
" Are you alright?" Amory's eyes instantly snapped open when he heard someone talk behind him. At nang lumingon siya ay agad nagkatagpo ang mata nila. A worried emotion passed on the stranger's chinky eyes at hindi pa man siya nakakasagot ay nakalapit na ito sa kaniya at nahila na ang paa niya para matingnan nito.
Amory internally raised an eyebrow at the worried stranger in front of him. Bakit masyado naman ata itong nag-aalala sa kaniya? Close ba sila? Di joke lang baka bawiin ni Lord ang savior niya na may shining shimmering armor.
“Nakaapak ka ata ng sea urchin. Don't try to remove it with your bare hands. Wait for me here, babalik ako agad.” The guy hurriedly went away to get something at masunurin namang naghintay si Amory.
Just a minute passed by ay nakabalik na agad ito, he was holding what looks like a bottle of vinegar on his hands and a tool that looks like a tweezer.
The guy kneeled infront of Amory and held his foot gently pagkatapos ay ibinuhos nito ang suka sa may mga tusok ng sea urchin.
