Ada's POV:
The moment he liked my cookies, I was over the moon. Now, here I am, having lunch with him, secretly thrilled. Sitting next to him feels like heaven, but I need to act normal. He can't know how I feel. I never imagined something from my bucket list would actually happen.
I looked at Sir Trey and Sir Cei, and it seems like there's something going on between them. And as for my crush, if looks could kill, Sir Trey would be bleeding right now from the way he's glaring at him.
Our food arrived, and we started eating. I can't help but feel giddy seeing him right in front of me, and even more so with him sitting beside me. It's like a dream—having a meal with my soon-to-be partner. Yes, I'm that delusional! And no one can tell me otherwise.
"Eat more. Don't be shy," Sir Ceidence said. We were all surprised when Mr. Icy quietly put some salad on my plate.
"What?" he said, a bit sharply. "Is it forbidden?" He looked at me, and I quickly shook my head.
"N-no, not at all." Oh, God! I'm stuttering!
"Eat more, so you'll gain some weight. You're too thin." I glanced at the couple across from us, who were laughing.
"Oh my, forgive my brother here. It's surprising to see him care about someone else. As far as I know, he's only like this at home. But looking at him now, it means—"
"Shut up, Cei!" Mr. Icy cut him off, still looking at me. "Don't listen to him. Just eat. We have our next class soon." I nodded in response.
I became comfortable with Sir Cei since he was the talkative one at the table. As for Mr. Icy, he couldn't stop glaring at Sir Trey, who just kept laughing at what Sir Cei was saying while secretly holding onto his waist. I'm not sure if Mr. Icy noticed, but from what I can tell, he's not very supportive of this. As far as I know, they're family friends.
"We'll talk at home," Mr. Icy warned his brother, but it seemed Sir Cei wasn't taking him seriously.
"Blah, blah. Whatever, Mr. Ice." He winked at him, and at me too. "Forgive my grumpy brother. He's never been in love, which is why he's like this. I wouldn't be surprised if he grows old alone."
"Ceidence!"
"Go on, you and Ada will be late." He looked at Sir Trey.
"I'll call you," Sir Trey said, then glanced at Mr. Icy. "I'll call you too, Rhy, if that's what you want." Then they both laughed. I laughed too, but when he looked at me, I stopped.
We walked down the hallway together, and I felt embarrassed because of the surprised looks from the people we passed by.
"Why is she even here at our school? So entitled."
"As far as I know, she's just a scholar, which means she probably has a sugar daddy. That's why she's here."
I could only swallow hard as I heard those comments. I wanted to confront them and give them each a punch, but I held back. I can't afford to be violent in front of Mr. Icy. Not on his watch. After all, this is still their school.
I was startled when he suddenly pulled me closer to him. I'm tall, but somehow, I felt small next to him.
"Don't mind them. Just walk straight," he said. I looked at him, feeling my heart race as he smiled. He's so handsome. This is the reason why I want him. I want to make him smile more because it makes him even more handsome. He looks like his dad, a younger version. Meanwhile, Sir Ceidence is a younger version of Sir Gulf, their mom.
We entered the classroom, and everyone went silent. I was confused as to why they were all staring at us.
"Babe!" my best friend whispered, leaving me puzzled. She pouted her lips in a direction, and when I followed her gaze, my eyes widened. I quickly let go.
"I-I'm sorry, Rhy..."
"No, it's okay. No harm done. Let's sit. Our teacher is on the way," he said calmly, a stark contrast to his behavior earlier.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHH!" My friend and I screamed together after I finished telling her what happened earlier. She knows all about the things on my bucket list, and now I've completed two out of twelve.
"You're so lucky today, babe! Imagine, the impossible is becoming possible. I'm rooting for you!" We're hanging out in our usual spot right now.
Our dismissal was early because one of our teachers had an emergency. Oh, I almost forgot—I'm the class president and also a student assistant, so I can earn some extra income to help cover my school needs. That's how productive I am.
After what happened earlier, Rhythm went back to being his cold self. It's like we're all invisible to him, even me. I tried my luck to communicate, but it didn't work. From where I'm standing, not too far away, I saw him getting into his car. The smile on his face as he got in was so bright.
"I hope next time, I'll be the reason for that smile," I whispered to myself.
