“…I’m pregnant, Ada,” Anggie said shakily, her voice trembling. “And you’re the father. You know what happened between us.”
Ada’s face went white. His lips parted, but no sound came out. He looked as though the air had been punched out of him.
Rhythm reached them in a few strides, his hand closing around Ada’s wrist, pulling him slightly behind him as if to shield him. His voice was ice.
"L-Love....." Ada said as he looked at Rhythm in horror.
“What the hell are you talking about, Anggie?” Rhythm’s tone was sharp, his jaw tight with anger. “Stop lying. Do you think you can just show up here, look like that, and blame Ada?”
Anggie flinched, tears spilling over. “I’m not lying, Rhythm! You weren’t there that night—you don’t know what happened!”
“Oh, I know enough!” Rhythm’s voice rose, and Ada could feel the fury radiating off him. “I know you nearly destroyed him once, and now you want to drag him down again. You think I’ll just stand here and let you guilt him into something that’s not his responsibility?”
Anggie shook her head frantically, crying harder. “It wasn’t supposed to be like this! I just… I didn’t know where else to go! Ada has the right to know!”
Ada finally found his voice, though it trembled. “Anggie…” His throat felt dry. “Are you…" Are you sure? Are you sure it’s me?”
“Yes!” Anggie cried. “I wouldn’t lie about this, Ada. That night… it happened, and now—”
“That night?” Rhythm cut her off sharply, his glare sharp enough to pierce. “You mean the night you drugged him and cornered him? And now you’re standing here, trying to call that his fault?”
Anggie’s face crumpled. “I didn’t mean to—”
“You didn’t mean to?” Rhythm snapped, his voice like a whip. “You humiliated him. You broke him. And now you want to come back into his life, dragging a baby along, saying he’s the father? Over my dead body.”
Ada stood there, heart hammering, caught between the two of them. “Rhythm…” he whispered, his voice almost pleading.
But Rhythm was too angry to stop. “You don’t get to hurt him again, Anggie. Not when he’s finally happy. Not when he’s worked so hard to stand up again. Whatever you think you’re doing — this ends now.”
Anggie sobbed openly now, clutching her belly protectively. “I just wanted him to know…”
“Well, now he knows,” Rhythm said coldly. “And you can leave. Because if you ever come near him again, I won’t hold back next time.”
Ada gently touched Rhythm’s arm, his own expression shaken. “Rhythm, please…”
But Rhythm didn’t take his eyes off Anggie. His protectiveness was written all over his face. “Let’s go, love,” he said, voice softer now but still firm. “You don’t need to listen to this.”
Ada glanced one last time at Anggie — at her tear-streaked face, at the curve of her belly — before Rhythm tugged him gently but insistently away.
Ada’s heart was in chaos. Rhythm’s grip on his wrist was steady, grounding, but Ada couldn’t shake the image of Anggie’s tearful face.
Inside the car, silence stretched between them, thick and heavy. Rhythm’s grip on the steering wheel was tight, his knuckles turning white, but his other hand never let go of Ada’s.
