Ada adjusted Aiden’s little backpack as they stood by the front steps of the Thompson mansion. The morning sun was soft, and there was a cool breeze brushing against his face. Aiden was busy showing Treycie his toy car while waiting for their tutor to arrive.
“Treycie, look! Mommy bought this for me yesterday,” Aiden said proudly, kneeling on the ground as he rolled the car across the tiles.
Treycie clapped her hands. “Wow! We can play later after class!”
Treyton came out from the doorway, holding his cup of coffee, and leaned casually against the door frame. “You know, Ada, every morning you look more and more like a full-time dad.”
Ada chuckled softly, brushing invisible dust off Aiden’s hair. “That’s because I am a full-time dad, Treyton.”
“You know what I mean,” Treyton teased, taking a sip. “You’ve got this routine down perfectly. Drop-off, class, pick-up, bake, teach… but no love life. When will you finally say yes to Ivan? He’s a good guy, hardworking, and he clearly adores you.”
Ada smiled politely, his hands resting on Aiden’s shoulders as if grounding himself. “I told you already, I’m not available.”
Treyton raised a brow and grinned knowingly. “Because it’s always Rhythm, isn’t it?”
Ada didn’t answer right away. He just smiled faintly, that small, wistful curve of his lips that Treyton had seen a hundred times before whenever Rhythm’s name came up.
“I’m focusing on Aiden,” Ada said softly. “That’s all that matters.”
Treyton sighed but smiled anyway. “One day, you’re going to run out of excuses, you know. Aiden is growing up fast. You deserve someone to take care of you, too.”
Ada’s smile deepened, this time warmer but firm. “I’m fine, Trey. Really. As long as Aiden is happy, I’m happy. That’s enough for me.”
Aiden, sensing the seriousness of the conversation, tugged Ada’s sleeve. “Mommy?”
Ada knelt down to face him, his whole expression softening. “Yes, baby?”
Aiden wrapped his arms around Ada’s neck and kissed him on the cheek. “I love you, Mommy. Please make cupcakes in your shop today, okay?”
Ada’s heart melted, as it always did when Aiden said those words. He kissed his son’s forehead gently. “I love you too, my sweet little Aiden. And yes, cupcakes for you are coming right up.”
Aiden grinned, satisfied, and went back to play with Treycie as their tutor arrived.
Ada stood and grabbed his car keys. “Be good, okay?” he called out.
“Yes, Mommy!” Aiden and Treycie chorused, making Ada smile.
As Ada walked toward his car, Treyton called after him. “Be ready, Ada! Someday, that heart of yours will get a surprise.”
Ada just shook his head with a quiet laugh as he opened the car door. He was so used to Treyton’s constant teasing by now that it barely fazed him — though, deep down, he wondered if Treyton might be right.
But for now, he had a class to teach, cupcakes to bake, and a son to come home to. That was his whole world, and he was content with it.

The roar of the private plane’s engines slowly faded as it came to a halt on the runway. Rhythm stepped down first, perfectly composed as always, dressed sharply in a tailored black suit. His broad shoulders and tall frame carried a quiet power — the kind that turned heads without a word. Behind him came Ali, walking with a mischievous grin plastered on her face.
