The next morning, Ada woke up early, determined to start the day right. He got Aiden dressed, combed his hair neatly, and packed his small bag with snacks.

Aiden’s face was glowing with excitement.

“Mommy! I can come with you today?” he asked, bouncing slightly as Ada tied his shoelaces. Ada doesn't want his son and Rhythm to meet again. He doesn't want his son to get hurt.

“Yes, baby,” Ada said, smiling despite the heaviness in his chest. “But you have to promise me something.”

“What is it?” Aiden tilted his head, curious.

“You have to behave while Mommy works, okay? No running around, no shouting, and no disturbing the class when I’m teaching.”

Aiden nodded eagerly, his tiny hands clasped together. “Promise! I’ll be a good boy.”

“Good,” Ada chuckled softly, ruffling his hair. “Do you want to bring anything to keep you busy?”

Aiden’s eyes lit up. “Can I bring my coloring book and crayons?”

“Of course,” Ada said. “Go get them. You can sit in the corner of the room and color quietly.”

Aiden ran off to grab his things, and Ada exhaled, his smile fading slightly once Aiden was out of sight.

He was trying. He was trying so hard to keep everything normal.

At school, Ada kept busy teaching, but his eyes would often drift to the little figure sitting quietly in the corner with his crayons. Aiden was humming softly to himself as he colored, occasionally looking up at Ada with a proud smile as if to say, See? I’m behaving.

By lunchtime, Ada retreated to his small office, letting Aiden sit on his lap while he fed him. Aiden giggled when Ada blew on the spoon to cool the soup.

“You’re spoiling me, Mommy,” Aiden teased.

“I can’t spoil you enough, You are still my baby. ” Ada replied with a faint laugh, pressing a kiss to his temple.

Just then, Ada’s phone buzzed on the desk.

“Treyton,” Ada muttered, swiping to answer. “Hey, Trey.”

On the other end, Treyton sounded tired.

“Ada… I’m really sorry. I can’t personally meet your project for the new building this week.”

Ada’s brows furrowed slightly. “What happened?”

“It’s Ceidence,” Treyton admitted with a sigh. “He’s been upset. I’ve been working overtime so much, and now we’re in the middle of an argument. I really want to help you, but I need to fix things with him first.”

Ada’s expression softened. “Trey, I understand. Family comes first. Don’t worry about me.”

“Still,” Treyton said, sounding guilty. “I already forwarded the floor plan to my co-engineers so the project can move forward without delay.”

“That’s good,” Ada replied gently, shifting Aiden slightly on his lap as the boy kept eating. “As long as the project stays on schedule.”

There was a pause before Treyton’s tone grew hesitant.

“Ada… the company that accepted the deal and will handle the construction is Rhythm’s. He already reviewed everything with my team this morning.”

Ada froze, spoon still hovering midair.

Treyton continued carefully, “I’m sorry if this happened unexpectedly. I know you and Rhythm have some… history. I just didn’t want you to feel blindsided when you see him involved in the project.”
