Rhythm's POV:
People always said I was hard to read. Cold. Untouchable.
But when it comes to Ada, I read him like a book — every look, every sigh, every frown, every quiet moment he spends staring at his reflection.
He thinks I don't notice.
But I do.
The way his eyes dim when he thinks I'm not looking. The way he bites his lip when he passes a mirror, as if he's questioning if he's still enough. The way his shoulders tremble when I catch him crying alone, and he wipes his face too quickly, pretending he's just tired.
Ada thinks maybe I love him less now — maybe because he's carrying our baby and his body is changing. But the truth is, I love him more. So much more, it scares me.
Mom told me once, "Pregnant people are fragile — they'll think too much, they'll pity themselves. It's your job to make sure Ada feels cherished every single day."
That's exactly what I've been trying to do.
Which is why this surprise had to be perfect. I wanted Ada to see — no, to feel — that he's still the most beautiful human I've ever loved. And that nothing, not even the hard years, not even the pain, could change that.
Sunlight streamed softly through the curtains when Ada's eyes fluttered open. Before he could sit up, Aiden hopped onto the bed, grinning from ear to ear.
"Happy birthday, Mommy!" Aiden said proudly, holding a pancake with chocolate syrup spelling out "HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY".
Ada blinked in surprise, then chuckled as tears gathered in his eyes. "You... you made this?"
Aiden nodded eagerly. "Me and Daddy cooked this! Daddy let me put the chocolate letters!"
I stepped forward from the doorway, holding a tray with more pancakes, scrambled eggs, and Ada's favorite hot chocolate. "Happy birthday, love."
Ada covered his face, laughing softly. "You two are unbelievable."
Aiden climbed into his lap. "Thank you for taking care of me, Mommy. And for loving me. I love you!"
Ada's tears spilled as he hugged Aiden tight. "I love you too, my baby." He looked up at me, smiling through tears. "And you... thank you. This is already perfect."
"Not yet," I smirked, placing a kiss on his forehead. "The day's just starting."
By nightfall, everyone was gathered — Ada's whole family, my family, close friends. The villa was filled with lights, music, and laughter.
Ada's cheeks were already red from all the greetings, hugs, and teasing.
"Stop crying!" Sunoo, handing him tissues. "It's your birthday, not your wedding!"
Ada rolled his eyes, and everyone laughed — not knowing that the wedding part wasn't far off.
When dinner ended and the cake was served, I took a deep breath, grabbed the mic, and stood up.
"Can I have everyone's attention?"
Ada's brows furrowed, curious.
I looked straight at him, my chest tightening. "You all used to call me Mr. Ice Prince back in college," I began, earning chuckles from our old friends. "Untouchable. Cold. Too serious. But what they didn't know was that there was someone — one person — who melted all of that away."
