Rhythm's POV:
I know I've been too strict with Lai, but I can't help it. I know I have a secure place in his heart, but I also know there are people just waiting for a chance to take him away from me. Adelaide is a bookworm, a top student, and friendly—plus, he's the school's pride. I know there are people secretly admiring him and waiting for an opportunity to catch his attention, but I won't allow it. I know Lai loves me, and I love him too. But sometimes, I get scared—scared that one day, he'll wake up tired of me.
I know I can't always control my jealousy, my possessiveness, but it's because of that fear. I don't want him talking to anyone else—whether it's a guy or a girl. Lai has a charismatic charm that makes people fall for him at first glance. And I'll admit, that's what captivated me, too.
My dad always advises me to be gentle with Lai, not to be too harsh—and I try my best. We're still young, and I know a lot can change over time, but I'll make sure that in the end, it will always be the two of us. I love this man beside me. My world revolves around him. He's the only one who has ever made me feel this happy. My frozen heart melted because of him.
"Why are you smiling?" he asked me, and I kissed his pouting lips.
"There you go. Because I'm so lucky to have a beautiful wifey like you."
I chuckled when I saw his face flush red. He loved it when I called him "wifey," even if he wouldn't admit it. He may have been the first to have feelings for me, but I think I've fallen for him even deeper.
"Rhy... we're at school," he whispered, pinching me lightly.
I wrapped my arms around his waist.
Who would've thought we've been together for two years already? Time flies so fast. Those years have been a roller coaster, but they've been the happiest of my life. Lai being by my side is the best thing that's ever happened to me. Our families are happy for us, especially mine. They're overjoyed by how much Lai has changed me.
I let go of him when my phone rang. Lai glanced at it, too. When I answered, my mom's bright smile greeted me. And I already knew what favor she was about to ask.
"Hi, Mom!" Lai greeted before I could.
"Hi, my beautiful Lai! How are you and Rhy? Are you busy?"
Before I could answer, Lai beat me to it.
"No, Mom. Is my baby Ron-Ron giving you a headache?"
"Lai!" I scolded, then looked at the screen as my youngest brother appeared. Even though he was drooling, he grinned excitedly when he saw my boyfriend. Even he loves Lai.
"Lai! Lai! Lai!" Tyronne squealed happily.
Of all the names Mom could've chosen, she had to name him after Treyton—the man I hate the most. Just thinking about him makes me want to punch something.
"Hi, my baby Ron-Ron! How are you? Are you giving Mom a hard time?"
