"You're my always sunshine." -L
"If you can said to him that you were the one giving it, we wouldn't have to hide like criminals."
"You're so loud. Might someone hears you." I said while locking Mr. Icy's locker.
Yes! I'm the one behind the cookies that my crush is addicted to now.
"I'm happy knowing he likes what I bake." It's true. I know he will never like me. I don't have the qualities he's looking for. Besides, he's straight and would never like someone as poor as me. I do this every morning because it's the only way for him to notice me. But that's in the past, now I know it's nearly impossible for him to notice me.
After our morning mission, we went straight to the classroom. After a while, I smiled seeing him holding the box I just put in his locker. He smiled widely as he sat in his seat looking it.
The classroom is quiet now compared to earlier when it was noisy. By the way, his family owns this school, so he's a big shot.
We've been classmates for three years, but I can count on one hand the number of times he's spoken to me. He's the top student in the class, and I'm second. Just seeing him enjoy my cookies makes me happy. It gives me the strength for the day. Even though I didn't get any sleep last night because I was reviewing for our upcoming exams.
"Hi Rhythm. Are you free later?" I stopped reading; it's Lea. I know she likes Mr. Icy, but it's a good thing he ignores her. That's good, my hubby. You're only mine.
"Why?" he said curtly, not even looking at Lea.
"For the reporting. I decided you'll be my partner in History..."
"And who are you to decide for me?" We were all shocked by his raised voice. It's the first time I've heard him like this.
"I thought..."
"You thought what? Just because our parents are business friends doesn't mean I'll be your friend too. I don't even know you." This is what I've said. Mr. Icy is the campus crush, and every morning, he rejects someone who confesses to him. That's why I'm so scared to admit my feelings. But my cookies will do the talking without me bragging.
"But I want you..."
"Then I don't. If you want good memories before finishing junior high, stop pestering me." Lea looked at me. I avoided her gaze and focused on reading. Lea left, and I heard her sigh.
"Why do they always approach me? Don't they understand I don't like them?" I looked at him. I was surprised he was looking at me too. I didn't know what to feel, but he's so handsome. Sh*t! My heart is beating so fast.
I didn't know what to say. I gave him a small smile without saying anything. I still heard him sigh. Omy! Please help me! I can't take this anymore! This is the first time he's talked to me. Calm down, Ada! This is not you.
I shrugged and continued reading. Our teacher arrived, and the class started. During lunch, Sunoo told me he had a lunch date with his boyfriend. He wanted to take me along, but I declined. I didn't want to be a third wheel in their relationship. Besides, I knew they would cut classes after, which I don't approve of. I need good grades to maintain my scholarship and finish school. My goal is to go to college if I'm lucky. I know I'm smart, so I'll use it for good.
I was walking down the hallway when I bumped into someone. "Ouch!" That was hard. When I looked up, my eyes widened. It was Sir Trey with Ceidence, Mr. Icy's brother.
"Omy! Are you okay? What the heck, hon!" Ceidence said, worried. They helped me stand up. My forehead hurt from the bump.
Wait... Hon? Does that mean the rumors about them are true?
"Sorry, Sir Trey, sorry Sir Ceidence. I didn't mean to." I said nervously. Sir Trey is known to be kind and calm, while Sir Ceidence is known to be strict and fierce. If someone goes against him, there are always consequences.
"You don't need to apologize. I wasn't watching where I was going," Sir Trey said.
"See what you did. His lunch spilled. You don't know how much effort his mom put into cooking it." Then I looked at the food spilled on the floor. Everything was scattered. Sir Ceidence was right; my mom prepared it. It means I don't have lunch now. I don't have extra money to buy new food. So, water it is. How unlucky.
"Sorry, dear. Don't worry, I'll take care of your lunch. Adelaide, right? A smart transferee?" Sir Ceidence said. I was surprised because he still knew me. It's been four years since I last talked to Sir Gulf about my scholarship and he was in the office at that time. "Forgive this clumsy guy here. As always, hon! You're so annoying." I smiled at how cute they were.
"It's okay, sirs, no need," I said, embarrassed. I'm scared of them. Everyone wants to talk to them and be their friend, and if they find out someone like me talked to them, I'll be bullied. And I can't promise I won't fight back. I don't want to lose my scholarship.
"Hey! Are you crying? Omy! I'm sorry, dear!" I was surprised when Sir Ceidence wiped my cheek. I touched my cheek, and it was wet.
I agreed because Sir Trey insisted. He said if I didn't, Sir Cei wouldn't talk to him. How cute.
We went to an expensive restaurant, which didn't surprise me. But I was more surprised to see who was at the table we were going to sit at.
"What are you doing here?" I was scared. From his voice, he was angry with me? I guess.
"I invited him because I wanted to, brother. And you can't do anything about it," Sir Cei said, clearly teasing his brother.
"Hi Rhy! What's up?" Sir Trey said, laughing. Mr. Icy ignored him and looked at me.
"Oh shit! I'm sorry for my behavior. Ahm... Hi." He was surprised at me. But I was more surprised by his reaction. It's like I wanted to hug him. Hey! Stop, Ada! You're so flirty!
"I-it's okay. Sorry, Sir Ceidence and Sir Trey invited me."
"That guy over here is clumsy, he bumped into Adelaide and spilled his lunch. So I treated him."
"What's new? So clumsy. Tsk!" he said to Sir Trey, laughing. Sir Cei made me sit next to Mr. Icy, and they sat together. I calmed myself because one of my checklist items was fulfilled. Having lunch with him. Check!
