"But I have information you don't. I'll give you all the names, information, and even the faces of those you've been chasing around blindly, including myself. In exchange for all this information, I want you to kill people for me."

Bold.

There was a pin-drop silence after Jane's remarks. Her voice and everything she had said were clearer than the day. She was negotiating with a ridiculous request.

"Ha ha!" The chief couldn't help but laugh mockingly. "You, I don't know who you are or how you got in here. But this agency is not the place to request a person's death. We are not a bunch of rouges who you can negotiate."

"How strange." Jane furrowed her brows. "Aren't you a part of the justice system? I thought my gift to you will make you happy since you are after these people I was talking about."

She cocked her head to the side. "Was it because of your pride?"

"We are not alike, woman." The chief shook his head, sneering. "We don't hurt innocent people. Our job is to impose justice and seize people like you. Until we locked up every single one of you, we won't stop. We don't need your help for that."

"Really?" she frowned. "What a shame."

"If that is now clear to you, surrender." The chief huffed. "You might've got in here without a hitch, but leaving this place is impossible. Moreover, give us the President."

Another moment of silence befell the room as the chief and Jane stared at each other. Everyone also kept their eyes on the woman, monitoring even her slightest movement. After another moment, Jane sighed deeply.

"Fortunately, I knew this would happen." The moment those words rolled out of her tongue, the monitor screens glitched.

One person noticed his computer glitching, putting aside his pistol to check what was going on. "Chief! Someone breached our system!"

"What?!" another person gasped, checking his computer as well.

One after another, half of the people started going back to their computers to confirm the situation. The other half let their colleagues do the job, as they couldn't lower their guard. This woman might be alone, but they believed someone was with her.

She couldn't infiltrate this building all alone. She must've gotten help.

"Don't panic! It's alright!" Jane exclaimed to calm the panic. "It's nothing much. My friend was just adding data to your system to lessen your incompetence."

Some people paused, looking over their monitor screens, while others kept their focus on their computers. They couldn't detect the problem as the hacker had already infiltrated the last protective walls of their data. Only then did they realize this woman was just a diversion.

"Shit!" one man slammed his hands against the table, shouting, "Chief! We need to shut down the system or else they would get all the data in our system!"

"What?!" the chief yelled back. "What are you saying?!"

Suddenly, the huge monitor behind Jane revealed downloading data. Everyone held their breaths as all the screens also showed the same screen. Someone was transferring data, instead of copying theirs. Most of the people inside the room were experienced computer specialists in different fields.

She wasn't lying.

The problem was, they couldn't confirm if this data were truly essential data or a virus. If it was the latter, then that would be a problem.

"You...!" the chief clenched his teeth, balling his hands into tight fists until they trembled. "What the hell do you really want!?"

"I already told you the first time, chief." This time, a layer of frost covered Jane's face. "I have information that you have. Information you will kill to get."

"I will not kill someone for you!"

"Oh, that, it seemed you misunderstood. I didn't mean it like that."

"Chief, someone is stealing our data!" another person from the corner announced in panic, almost slamming the keyboard, but to no avail. At this point, they couldn't do anything anymore as they were locked out.

Whoever infiltrated their system was truly a capable one. Working in this field for many years, some of them could narrow down potential hackers that could do this. Or rather, one hacker who made them build an entirely different defense system because he hacked them several years ago for fun.

The Joker.

Just as that thought crossed their mind, a pixilated pattern of a clown's hat appeared on top of the screen.

They guessed it right.

"The Joker..." one whispered as he took a step back. "We're done for."

"Chief, it seemed the person hacking our system is the Joker. We can no longer control the system and the only way to stop it is if we shut the system down!" another one panicked, understanding the severity of the situation.

As protocol, if someone breached their system, they had to shut down the system. It was better to lose all data instead of letting others steal them. After all, they couldn't let the information they gathered through the years fall into a bad person's hands.

"It's too late," Jane chimed in nonchalantly. "Even if you shut down the system, that guy will still get what we need. Just believe me and don't make things complicated for you. After all, I might have a long patience, but not him. He's quite... well, short-tempered." — most of her men were short-tempered except Bear, Ram, and Wolf.

Just as she uttered her remarks, the downloading reached 100. All computers restarted, including the biggest one behind her. Jane jumped out of her seat, standing in the middle confidently.

"Thank you for your cooperation." She smiled. "Although you did nothing but scream like a bunch of buffoons, doing nothing is already enough. I still got what I want. Now that you killed the people I wanted dead, here's a little gift for you."

BOOGSH!

A small explosion suddenly exploded in the corner of the room, followed by a thick smoke. Everyone was caught off guard as they docked, covering their noses with their arms. Panic immediately took place, opening the ventilations and exhaust to clear up the smoke.

Fortunately, it wasn't a sleeping grenade or any of that kind.

"Seize her!" shouted the chief, and those who were trained to do the job immediately jumped to where Jane originally stood.

When the smoke cleared up, the chief looked in the direction where she was.

She was gone.
