"Where is she?!" the chief roared, looking around, but to no avail.

Jane disappeared without a trace. How was that possible? There was only one entrance and exit in this room and that was the door behind him. She couldn't go past him unnoticed, even with the fog.

"What —" the chief abruptly stopped when the huge monitor showed a profile of different people. Everyone slowly raised their heads, dilating their eyes at the profiles displayed one after another. They had been in this field for years, and they instantly recognized the brief details on the front page of the profiles.

The files consisted of photos, names, and what they were known for. Personal information was also in them, including the long list of crimes they committed and the organization they were part of. Some photos were of people they never saw in their lives, but their names were something that they were familiar with.

This was what she was talking about in them chasing people blindly because some people in the underground were truly cunning and evasive. She only put faces on the faceless criminals they were chasing after.

But what surprised them all was the next profile that appeared.

It was her. It was that woman.

Everything about her was written on her profile: her name, her nickname, her age, and some personal information. One thing about her caught their attention. It was the name of the most notorious and mysterious assassination group.

Reapers.

Her role?

Don.

"What..." someone felt her knees wobble as she slumped back to her seat. "... that's Hell?"

Everyone was silent at this discovery. They assumed she was a skilled felon, but they didn't think she was the head of the notorious organization. Even all government agencies were wary of her.

No wonder she was bold enough to stand before everyone in here, unarmed.

Another thing that added to their shock was that even though they were the center of foreign information, they had no clue about this group. Their problem with other felons was that they had no face, but they had leads.

But about Hell? Or rather, Jane? Zero.

If they didn't know better, they would just think she and her organization were simply a fragment of one's imagination. Like legends in the underground, as there was no trace of them as if they didn't exist.

"What are you all doing!?" the chief's roar brought everyone back from their daze. "Don't let her get away!"

The chief's nose flared, not allowing this shock to affect him. Allowing that woman to go in and out of this place would be a shame for him. Therefore, he couldn't allow that to happen.

In a blink of an eye, everyone moved. Many of them returned to their post, checking their data and what information they lost. Others left to search for the woman. She couldn't disappear like that. For sure, she was still within the building.

"Also, trace the President's location. Find him as soon as possible," the chief ordered aggressively before leaving the room to find the intruder.

They turned the entire headquarters upside down, searching every corner to find her. However, even after hours of search, all they saw were remnants of smoke grenades used to block all cameras.

"Chief." Another unit came to where the chief was, shaking their heads in dismay. "We cannot find her."

"Impossible!" the chief roared, clenching his teeth. "Check again!"

"But chief —"

"Do you know what happens if you let her get away from here? Not only it will bring shame to this agency, but it only meant our security system is incompetent!" the chief's voice echoed. "Go and look for her! Don't think of coming back to me without her! I still have to cooperate with the General about the President!"

"Yes, sir!"

With that being said, the unit left to take a look for the umpteenth time. Meanwhile, the chief huffed as he stormed back to his office. His expression was grave, swinging his fist to and fro with his every step. Soon, he reached his office, slamming it closed behind him.

"Damn it!" he cursed through his gritted teeth, eyes shining angrily.

"You should drink a glass of water to calm yourself." Suddenly, a woman's voice caressed his ears.

The chief slowly turned his head to the familiar voice. There, sitting idly on the leather black couch, was the woman everyone was looking for. She was holding a glass of wine, swirling it carefully before taking a sip.

When she gulped down the sweet alcohol, she snapped her eyes at him. "Hmm? Are you angry?"

The chief's face crumbled as his fist trembled.

"I agreed because you said you will not do it." Unlike the reaction one would assume he would do, the chief breathed out in frustration. He was still grinding his teeth, but the unfamiliarity in his eyes vanished, replaced with pain as if she had betrayed him.

"But... you still left your records in this damn place!" he growled, marching in her direction. But instead of pulling her up or arresting her, the chief suddenly went on his knees and looked up at her.

"Boss, why did you do this?"

The corner of her lips curled up as she cupped his face. "Because I don't want you to lose this job for me, Ram. Thank you for your service, but you can continue to live this life."

"The only reason I am here is to protect you," he returned with a voice full of bitterness. "Leaving your records..."

"I'm dying, Ram. That's a fact. The least I can do is to give everyone the chance to start anew." She smiled warmly. "My records will save you from losing this job you worked so hard for. This time, you don't have guilts of rowing between justice and felony."

"The President... I mean, Wolf will be back after playing golf with Bear. He'll protect you from this scandal as promised," she added, nodding at him encouragingly. "It's my last wish, and that's also my last order. Forget about me and from today onwards, we are enemies."

Jane was no magician. She wouldn't disappear or reappear in one place and another just like what others believed. It was not magic, but connections she had that would give her entry to any place in the world.

No one knew how many people she scattered all across the world and what those people achieved at her behest. Just like this chief and the president, it only showed how she almost ruled the world with such people receiving orders from her.

Thus, Jane had a deeper understanding of how this world was a twisted one. This life was not something she wanted to have back in her life. Ever.
