When Lisa arrived in the kitchen, Jennie was already making something. She had her hair in a high, messy bun and an apron on her front. He folded his arm under his chest, Leaning his side against the jamb of the entrance, eyes on his wife.

Jennie was humming while chopping something.

'Dara did say she had been in the kitchen,' he recalled, studying how efficient Jennie was with the knife. 'I doubted it, but it seemed Dara wasn't lying. Had she always liked cooking?'

Strange as it may sound, even though Jennie and Lisa were married for five years, they almost knew nothing about each other. Although, unlike her, Lisa still has an idea about her favorites and dislikes. He married a stranger, but that didn't mean he had to keep her as a stranger since she was carrying their son.

'Did I miss it?' he wondered, recalling all the information he knew about Jennie. If his memory served right, Jennie didn't know how to cook. She could make simple meals, but that was it.

Jennie might have had a humble beginning, but her father loved her so much that he was also a mother to her. He treated her like a princess, and because of that, Jennie barely know how to do simple chores like cooking.

"Eh? You still came?" Lisa's train of thought halted as soon as her voice caressed his ear.

He snapped his eyes up, seeing that she was looking in his direction.

"I was wondering if this was a way to escape," he remarked, unfolding his arms before marching toward the counter. "Before I jump to any conclusion, I came to check."

Lisa bent over and rested his arms against the counter. "Was it the right decision?"

"Geez. Did you think I was lying when I said I was hungry?" Jennie clicked her tongue. "I'm not trying to escape. If there's someone who should, that should be you."

Jennie pointed at him with the knife in her hand. "You... are in great danger, Mr. Manoban. I am dangerous."

"Hah." A short dry laugh escaped his curled lips, amused. "That is not a toy you can swing around recklessly."

"Don't worry. I'm quite efficient in handling sharp things." She winked, spinning the knife between her fingers before she held it securely. "Well, I tried to be considerate. Don't blame me if you run late tomorrow."

Lisa simply laughed and then watched her quietly. "What are you making?" he asked after some time of silence.

"Just some snack and your meal tomorrow."

"My meal?"

"Mhm." Jennie paused as she set her focus back on him. "I'm not so busy, so I was thinking of preparing some lunch boxes for tomorrow. I don't trust Kim Jisoo about your health."

"It's not his fault that my schedule is like that. I was the one who insisted on adjusting my meal time."

"He should know that his boss is too busy to think about his health and meal time. As an assistant, his job doesn't end in taking orders and fulfilling them efficiently. His priority is to make sure his boss doesn't fall," she lectured while clicking her tongue continuously. "Do I have to spell it out for him? Gosh. I don't think he's underpaid for him to slack."

Lisa watched his wife go on and on while moving all the ingredients next to the stove. He kept his eyes on her back, listening to how she roasted Kim Jisoo — Lisa's executive assistant — without mercy.

"I didn't know you know his name," he pointed out after a moment, watching her look back at him.

"I don't want to mention the past, but even if I was the opposite of my name, I keep things in mind," was what she told him.

"Is that so?"

"Yes!" Jennie resumed her focus on what she was doing. "Anyway, if you bring lunch, you can eat in the car or in your office. That's the bottom line here. You can choose not to eat your lunchbox or give it to someone else. Just don't tell me because that would hurt my feelings."

Jennie then spun around, narrowing her eyes at him suspiciously. "I hurt you in the past, and I won't blame you if you want revenge and hurt me on purpose. But still, remember that I am now in charge of the kitchen."

"That... makes me worried if I should eat what you'll prepare for me," Lisa mumbled, but she still heard it loud and clear.

"Hehe. Kim Jisoo can have a taste first."

"That sounds even more concerning."

"Hehe." Jennie giggled, making him wonder if that was considered evil laughter. "Just stay there. This will be quick."

Jennie didn't mind him anymore as she worked in the kitchen, preparing a light meal she could munch and enjoy. Meanwhile, as she danced in the kitchen, Lisa stayed by the counter to watch her. There were so many things in his mind, but deep in his heart, he sort of enjoyed something like this.

No fights and no misunderstandings. Everything was honest and direct, sprinkled with a bit of humor.

Without thinking of the past, it felt like they were truly a couple.

As he watched her, deep lines appeared in between his brows as Jennie went to the corner of the kitchen. She opened one of the cabinets, reaching for something from the top shelf. She stood on her toes but barely grazed a small bottle with her fingertips.

'Damn it! I forgot the chef always prepared all the condiments for me. I didn't know he keeps things in these...' Her train of thought trailed off as a shadow overlapped with hers before an arm stretched over her.

Lisa reached for the bottle, standing a step behind her. When he got it, he gazed down while she slowly turned around to face him.

"If you need help, asking will not hurt." He offered the bottle to her, unbothered by the palm-length gap between them. "Here."

Jennie pressed her lips as she accepted the bottle. "Thanks."

"No problem."

Jennie peeked at him and forced a quick smile. After several seconds, her brows rose as she cleared her throat.

"Won't you move?" she asked, laughing awkwardly as he was blocking her path and wouldn't budge.

"Should I?" his brows rose, making her look up at him with genuine wonder in her eyes. "Should I move?"

"..." Jennie's lips opened and closed like a fish, but her voice was stuck in her throat.

What did he mean by that? Her colorful mind instantly went wild, thinking this was an opportunity for romance. She held herbreath when Lisa slowly bent over, gulping nervously as she anticipated forgood things to happen.
