[From: My Jennie

Honey Dearest, I'll be strolling with Lucas. I think it is good to spend time with him today since he's in a great mood about the car. We might get a bit late, but don't worry, Bear is with us.

Tell me if you need anything. We'll buy it on the way home <3]

Lisa read his wife's messages, tilting his head to the side. He heard that Jennie would pick up the car today, and she even told him she might ask Lucas for help. However, he didn't know Jennie and Lucas would get along to the point that they would stroll around.

"Sir, these are the documents..." Kim Jisoo trailed off as he carefully put down the folders on the desk. "Sir, is everything alright?"

"Yes, oddly."

"Oddly?"

"Jennie picked up the vehicle I ordered months back. She asked Lucas to pick it up with her, but she now told me she would be a little late because she was going to bond with him."

"Oh..." Jisoo rocked his head. "That's... odd."

"I know." Lisa rubbed his chin, pondering. "He had always disliked her, but it seemed it was a good move to give her the authority of that car."

"Pardon?"

"Jennie is the one who did the paperwork." Lisa bent over to pick up the documents as he added, "I gave her the authority to put it under whoever's name she wants."

Jisoo couldn't help but scrunch his nose up in dismay. "You... did what?"

"Hmm?" Lisa glanced up at his assistant. "What's with that look?"

"Sir, that car is..." he trailed off as Lisa tilted his head to the side. Surely, his boss was generous. But why was he only generous to Jennie!? Lisa wouldn't even treat Jisoo to a drink, telling him it was bad for his health.

"Well, I guess the madam deserves such a rare car." Jisoo cleared his throat, although he was certain Jennie might not appreciate this car's value.

"I just realized I hadn't told her how much I like her, so I was compensating." Lisa refocused his attention on the documents before him, not really worried about Jennie and his brother. Bear was with them, so he felt extra at ease. At least she wasn't alone.

Meanwhile, Jisoo couldn't help but look at his boss with such judgemental eyes. 'He never told me he liked me as well,' he thought, thinking the more Lisa's relationship grew better with his wife, the more biased he had become.

"Anyway, send that person away. I can still hear his screaming. It's distracting," Lisa spoke after a moment, keeping his eyes on the documents he was working on.

"As you wished." Jisoo bowed and with that, he left to shoo away the father of the kid who bullied the young master Jevin.

Lisa went on his day, thinking his wife and brother were having a good time. He was aware that Lucas didn't like Jennie and he couldn't blame his brother. Although he warned him before, Jennie just kept giving Lucas reason to dislike her.

But now that Jennie was a changed woman, Lisa only wished for his brother to appreciate his wife. Jennie was kind, loving, understanding, and just like an angel straight from the glorious gates of the sky. If Lucas only sees the good in Jennie, then there was not a problem anymore.

After all, everyone in the Manoban Family — at least the immediate family — except Lucas approved of her. If Lucas and Jennie got along, then Lisa wouldn't have any worries in the future as well.

Little did he know, the bonding between Lucas and Jennie was far from what he could ever imagine.

Meanwhile, somewhere outside of the main city, numerous modified cars appeared one after another at the location of the race. Everyone gathered under the main bridge of Cakewalk County; a town perfect for these types of things.

The town was known for many things due to its rocky roads and bleak paths. Since it was only two and a half drive from the city, one could see the difference in how behind it was. The lack of funds and the incompetence of the people in charge here also made it hard to make it a better place.

Not a surprise since there were always places like this county that no tourist would even think of visiting unless necessary.

"Sis," Lucas called Jennie quietly, driving slowly like a turtle as they made their way under the bridge. "Are you sure about this? We can still make a turn."

Jennie already had a change of clothes, as they killed time just around the area. She used those time buying a new set of clothes, changing from a dress and heels to comfortable jeans, a shirt, a jacket, and sneakers. And during all those hours, Lucas persistently persuaded her.

Jennie cocked her head and looked in his direction. "Seriously? You're not yet done?"

"Sis, this isn't something you can just goof around with! Those guys are serious offenders!"

"If you know that, you shouldn't have involved yourself in these sorts of people." Jennie rolled her eyes. "We are going to teach those guys a lesson."

"How are you going to do that?!" Lucas gasped, almost at his wit's end. "Good thing Mr. B has a long patience and got intimidated by Bear, but even if Bear is with us, he can't do anything!"

"And why do you think like that?"

"Because he is old! Didn't you see the grey hairs sticking out of his hair?!"

Jennie bit her lips, covering them to suppress her laughter. Fortunately, the vehicle they were using was the Sportscar they picked up today while Bear was driving the other one. She could imagine Bear's face upon hearing this guy's remarks.

"Why are you laughing?!" Lucas groaned as he felt increasingly frustrated. "Sis! Let's turn back now!"

Jennie cleared her throat, facing him. "I think it's too late to change my mind now," she said, calmer now than when she found out about Lucas's bruises.

She tipped her head ahead as some people under the bridge already had their eyes on their car. Lucas glanced at it and was unable to conceal the fear in his eyes upon seeing some familiar faces.

"Lucas," she called as soon as she noticed his panic, extending her arm to reach his head. Her touch made him flinch a bit, turning his head to face her, only to see her reassuring smile.

"I will never let them imprison you in your own mind," she said, nodding at him as her eyes slowly sharpened. "They touched my brother, so they will get a piece of me. Trust me just this once, okay?"

Lucas gulped as he held his breath. Looking at her, he felt this strange sense of trust, so he nodded.

"Good boy."
