When Jennie heard how Lisa handled the situation at first, it didn't make sense to her. No matter what angle she looked at it, it just seemed Lisa favored the other party instead of his son. This upset her, obviously.
What would Jevin feel about his father's action?
Jennie was already a neglectful mother, and then his father wouldn't take his side. Thinking about what would Jevin feel upset her. It was the main reason she provoked the woman. If only Jennie had more power in the household, she wouldn't mind dragging the situation to court and blowing it out of proportion. However, she had caused enough trouble for her husband and son that she couldn't afford to add more. Thus, she sacrificed her face.
"I'm not kind, Jennie. Was your perception of me changed because of this?"
Was he serious?
Yes. Jennie's perception of him changed. However, not in a way he would expect.
"I think... I've fallen in love." Deep lines appeared between his brows, only to see the corner of her lips stretch to her eyes. "Now, you sound sexy, you know?"
"Sexy?"
"Yes, sexy!" Jennie teasingly poked his shoulder. "Gosh. I thought you were some sort of saint, but knowing you can be bad makes me proud. There's nothing more attractive than a man who can be bad and good, you know?"
Mixed emotions appeared in his eyes while Jennie giggled while teasing him. Her reaction was not what he expected, but somehow, he felt relieved it didn't scare her. Lisa felt the need to lie, but he didn't want to lie to her as a practice to set the foundation of their marriage. They just decided to fix their marriage a few hours ago, after all. Lying wouldn't help. Though the truth might be the same.
"So? Did they already sign the agreement?" she asked, intrigued. "Come on, tell me more."
Lisa suddenly grabbed her hand to stop her from poking. "I didn't choose this method to bully them, but to put them in the right place."
"Hey, why are you suddenly bringing up bullying? Did you think I'd take advantage of this?" she pouted, but deep in her heart, Lisa's senses were correct.
Jennie already thought of a thousand ways to torment that woman. She was a person who hold grudges passionately. It was an instinct she picked up growing up. The last time she held a grudge lasted for a decade.
Jennie sighed. "Whatever. But then again, if they hadn't learned their lesson, I'll spell it out for them."
"They won't."
"If that is what you say." She rolled her eyes, only to notice he was still holding her hand. Her gaze fell on his hand that was holding hers before his fingers opened.
"Just pick a movie." Lisa diverted the subject, fixing his position. "It's getting late."
"Yes, yes. Gosh. What a way to change the subject." Jennie shook her head, refocusing her attention on the screen. Unlike her enthusiasm earlier, Jennie almost lost her interest in watching a movie. It was much more interesting to talk to her husband, but then again, she was afraid she would bore him.
In the end, Jennie chose a random movie. It was an action film. As soon as the movie started, the two of them stayed quiet. Jennie busily ate. She was more focused on her food than on the movie, while Lisa seemed to have taken the movie night too seriously and too literally.
"Hah..." Jennie yawned in the middle of the movie, her stomach full, and her muscles a little worn out. She spent her day moving her things. Even when the servants did more of the work, she still helped a lot. Thus, she couldn't help but feel sleepy in the middle of the movie.
Her eyelids felt heavier every minute until tears formed in the corner of her eyes. She kept yawning, melting on the couch that was more like a single bed. She forced herself to keep her eyes open, but ten minutes later, she already had her eyes closed.
When she fell asleep, Lisa turned his head to confirm. He glanced at the tray near her. It was a mess, but she emptied everything.
"Who watches a movie with a full-course meal?" he murmured, but then the corner of his lips curled up subtly. "I was right. You were trying to escape."
Lisa shook his head weakly, setting his eyes on the movie. Instead of turning it off, Lisa watched the movie until the end. He agreed to have a movie night. So even when the culprit who asked him for a date night fell asleep, he wanted to fulfill his side of the agreement.
He was like that... or maybe he didn't want to disappoint her once she woke up. This was their first date. Although simple and sporadic, it was still a date she proposed voluntarily.
Lisa glanced at her again. 'Hearing you worry about Jevy is enough,' he thought, smiling.
'Our son... never hated you, after all.'

The next day...
"Weekend." Lisa broke the silence in the vehicle, eyes on the window. "Clear my schedule during the weekend."
Kim Jisoo gasped, looking back at the backseat with an aghast expression. "This weekend?"
"All year."
"All — all year?" Lisa's assistant was rendered speechless for a moment. He could only look at his boss, who was calmly staring at the window. He could tell Lisa seemed to be in a great mood, but his request stressed the hell out of Jisoo.
"Everyone in the company has a day off except me." Lisa slowly set his eyes on his assistant. "It'll be good for you as well. You should rest."
"Sir, we already adjusted your schedule a few times in a span of days—" Jisoo sighed, mentally throwing his hands in surrender. "May I know the reason, sir?"
"Family matters."
"..." Hell no. "Did the young madam —"
"She doesn't know. It's my decision." Lisa smiled. It was subtle, but it was undeniably obvious, especially for those who had worked for him for years. Lisa's smile was as rare as a hen's teeth.
"Was there a chance I can change your mind?"
"No." Lisa shook his head before turning his head to the window. "A part of me thinks... good things will happen soon. Hopefully."
