After Jennie went to the bathroom, Lisa went in. He only flashed her a quick smile as they met by the door, but he behaved himself, thankfully. Hence, she was able to go through her morning routine. She took time to think about when to fit the time of hitting the gym without hurting her time with Lisa and Jevin.
Jennie snapped her eyes up when Lisa came into the walk-in closet.
"Lisa?" she called, receiving a hum from him as he picked his attire for the day. "About that day Jevy came home. What did Mom and Dad say? I was certain they would come that day, but they didn't."
"I told them not to."
"Huh?"
Lisa looked back at her. "I went to see them that day when I left."
"Oh." Jennie rocked her head in understanding. "That explains it."
The question just crossed her as she thought of the family gathering. They talked about not going to the family gathering last night, but they still hadn't agreed on it. After all, a part of her wanted to go to put some people in their place, but at the same time, she was reluctant because it was such a bother.
"Are you still undecided about whether to go to the family dinner?"
"Mhm." Jennie applied sunscreen as the last part of her morning routine. "Even if you say it's fine, a part of me thinks it's not."
"No rush. You still have two days, including today, to think about it. Whatever your decision is, I don't mind."
Jennie paused as she glanced at the mirror, catching his reflection as he took out a suit.
"Thanks." She smiled, setting her attention back to the mirror. "By the way, I'm thinking of hitting the gym."
"We have a gym home."
Her face stiffened. "I know that."
"Do you need a trainer?"
"Wouldn't you ask me for the reason first?"
"For?"
"For... never mind." Jennie shook her head. "No, I don't need a trainer."
"Tell me if you need one." This time, Lisa stopped as he turned his head in her direction. "I won't question your decision for self-development, but I will if you hire a male trainer."
Jennie looked back at him. "Jealous?"
"Maybe?"
"Hehe."
"I don't like sharing, you know that." Lisa placed the clothes he picked on the settee inside, took off the upper part of the bathrobe, and let it rest on his hips.
"But you like sharing information." Jennie rolled her eyes as another concern resurfaced in her head. "Did you know I nearly had a heart attack when Jevy mentioned that night on the roof deck?"
"What about it?"
"What do you mean, what about it? I thought you told him what happened on the roof deck, only to heave a sigh of relief when he told me it was about the renovation of his room!"
"He asked what we are doing there, so I have to come up with an excuse."
Deep lines appeared between her brows as she slowly turned her head in his direction again. "What did you say?"
"Hmm?" Lisa arched a brow, confused. "That I came up with an excuse?"
"Not that." Jennie shook her head. "Are you telling me Jevy already knew we were on the roof deck?"
"Mhm."
"How?"
"Jevy usually goes to the roof deck when he needed some fresh air and quietness. Fortunately, a maid stopped him from going up. Else, he would've seen what I've seen since the door isn't locked," Lisa explained. "Why? Is something the matter?"
"Ah, nothing." Jennie smiled a momentary smile, shaking her head mildly. "Yes, it's a good thing he didn't come that night."
Jennie set her eyes back to the mirror, spreading the sunscreen on her face evenly. Her mind, however, drifted to the keywords in Lisa's explanation.
'A maid, huh?' A murderous glint flickered across her eyes. 'So, I wasn't hallucinating that night. Someone was watching me and considering she slipped away from me, only means she's trained.'
The corner of her lips curled up, giving off a much more sinister look none had seen on her face. 'Now, all I need is to train this body until it's capable of restraining one capable assassin.'
"By the way, about the renovation, I contacted someone to help you with your plans." Jennie's sinister smirk instantly disappeared when Lisa turned his head to her. "He might come today. I already gave instructions, so you only have to tell him what to do."
"No need." Jennie smiled sweetly. "I want us to do it together."
Lisa arched a brow. He found her suggestions a little appalling, but didn't argue.
"Whatever you like," was all he said as he buttoned up. "At least you know you have options."
**********
When Jennie finished her morning routine, she hurriedly went to the kitchen. Fortunately, the chef was just starting. Thus, she insisted on making breakfast for Lisa and Jevin. The chef simply assisted her, doing whatever he could to make her life easier.
After several minutes, Lisa already arrived in the kitchen.
"Ma — master, good morning," the head chef greeted, a bit surprised his boss was in the kitchen at this hour.
Lisa just nodded, taking a seat by the counter. He propped his arms against the edge of the counter, watching his wife get busy in the kitchen.
"Do you need help?" asked Lisa, making the chef freeze.
Jennie didn't react. Her back was turned on him as she was busy cooking.
"It's okay. The head chef is already here to help me," she said without casting him a look. "This will be quick, so it's fine."
Lisa cupped his cheek as his eyes lingered on her nape. She had her hair tied up, displaying her slender neck. The hickey he left last night was peeking out of her collar, making him smirk.
Lisa cast the head chef a look, tipping his head to the side.
'Huh?' the head chef furrowed his brows, before getting a grasp of what that signal meant. "Uh —"
The head chef nearly bit his tongue as Lisa placed his finger in front of his lips.
'Of course, I'll be quiet.' The head chef bowed before he discreetly tip-toed his way out. As the chef was leaving, Lisa was already getting up from his seat.
"Chef, can you hand over..." Jennie didn't finish her sentence as Lisa had already taken the chef's place. She looked around, but the head chef was gone.
"What do you need?" he asked innocently. "The head chef suddenly took off — so rude."
'You mean you chased him away?! Wow, Lisa Manoban! So shameless!' Jennie was lost for words about how LIsa quickly washed his hands.
