"Am I misreading you, Jennie?"

Jennie blinked countless times as if to confirm the situation. The weight on her chest pressing against her told her she wasn't hallucinating. His hot breath that was touching her upper lip backed it up. She stared at the dashing face hovering over her. His gaze was sharp, almost piercing the depths of her soul.

"Why... don't you try to see if you're wrong?" she whispered, catching the little flame beneath his pair of piercing eyes.

"Should I?" Lisa tilted his head as he lowered it, but just when his lips were a few centimeters from hers, he caught her eyes slide to the side. "So, I'm wrong?"

Lisa drew his head back, watching her look back at him.

"No, you're not wrong," she corrected, shaking her head mildly.

"If I'm not, then why were you looking away?"

"Because you're painful to watch." Jennie chuckled. "Don't force yourself, Lisa Manoban. Between us, you're the one who looked like you're being forced..."

The rest of her words rolled back to her throat when something soft and strong pressed against her lips. Her eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he bit her bottom lip with controlled strength.

"I told you," he muttered as he drew his head back. "I might fuck you again. I'm not being forced, but rather, I'm trying not to hurt you."

Jennie held her breath, wide-eyed. She could still feel his teeth on her lips, and she was certain it swelled slightly.

"Should I continue?" he inquired, batting his eyelashes rather innocently.

The nerve!

After biting her, he had the gall to ask if they should continue.

"Have you always been this shameless?" she blurted out under her breath. "How can you ask if we should continue after biting me?"

"You started it."

"How?"

"You hurt my feelings."

Jennie pondered, recalling everything she had said just now. Her previous remarks about why she looked away immediately flashed in her head.

'Ahh... I've gotten too comfortable with him that I'm speaking so casually to him,' — like how she would usually word her sentences as Jane. Well, her tongue was built to insult men and others on a daily basis.

"Okay." She nodded as if she already came to terms with whatever inner dilemma she had.

"Okay, what?"

"Let's continue." Jennie blinked, raising a finger between them. "But no biting. Do you understand?"

"..."

Lisa just stared at her face, witnessing how her eyes cleared up from any confusion. She was staring at him with no disgust or reluctance. If anything, her eyes were so clear he could see that she was a willing participant.

"I'm just teasing you." He smirked, pushing himself away from her. "Though I'm surprised, as I didn't expect you to be so easy."

Jennie gasped in dismay, propping her elbow to sit up before him. "Are you trying to hurt my feelings with your words?" she pointed at herself.

"I do." His smirk stretched, moving his body to the other side of the bed to get out. "Next time, don't stay in your robe for too long. Your temperature is a little odd."

As soon as the last syllable rolled out of his tongue, he flung his legs out of the bed. The moment he stood beside the bed, he glanced at her while loosening his tie.

"I'll get you some medicine after I took a shower," he said as he walked away. "You'll not die yet, right?"

"This sly bast — Hey, Lisa Manoban! Aren't you being toxic?" she yelled, clicking her tongue as she watched him walk away. "If I were you, I'd lock the door!"

Lisa halted as he glanced back. "No. I will keep it unlocked. Though I won't promise anyone who comes in will get out immediately."

"..."

He chortled before resuming his strides, going straight to the bathroom without locking the door. Meanwhile, Jennie was in utter disbelief at the sort of attitude her husband had displayed.

This was not the Lisa Manoban she knew! Not in the original Jennie's memory, and not the type she observed for a few days! But then again, the original Jennie didn't really know her husband and the current soul only met him a few days ago.

If she would add her knowledge from her original life, a mission — especially if it involved a person — required weeks or months to complete. Some cases required many years to get to know a person, their patterns, and their secrets behind closed doors.

"Was he always been like this?" she murmured, narrowing her eyes at the bathroom door. "He didn't lock the door. Why? Is that an indirect invitation?"

Jennie quirked a brow while rubbing her chin, humming. "I think... I have to stop relying on Jennie's memories. Especially if it regards her husband or son. It seemed she didn't really know..."

Just as she told herself not to rely on the original Jennie's memory, snippets of memories suddenly flashed before her eyes. Her head throbbed, making her hold her temple.

"Ugh..." her face crumpled, squinting her eyes as the fragments of memories stopped. She slowly lifted her squinting eyes on the bathroom door, wearing this strange, disbelief expression.

"I see," she murmured, dropping her hand to the side. "He can really be intense, huh?"

What sort of memories surged through her mind was something she was never been curious about. She was already glad the original Jennie couldn't remember their first night; she was not interested, anyway. However, although the memories that flashed in her head were just snippets, it was enough for her to get the bigger picture of that intense fucking.

'Now that I think about it, he doesn't word it as making love,' she thought, touching her slightly swollen lip, which he bit. 'Because fucking is what he does, and he's undeniably good at it.'

Her cheek slightly turned red at the thought.

"Gosh... what a turn-on. Should I follow him?" Jennie tilted her head to the side, eyes still on the door. The corner of her lips curled up as her eyes glinted mischievously.
