"Kyaa!!!"
Jennie's scream was so loud it not only garner the attention of very few people in the night duties but also Lisa. Lisa furrowed his brows as he heard this faint, almost soundless scream.
"Did someone..." he whispered, wondering if he was simply overthinking things. The master's bedroom was soundproof, so there was little chance he could hear such a thing. Moreover, there was enough security in the mansion.
"Why do I suddenly feel... anxious?"
Curious, Lisa placed the book on the bedside table before lifting his legs out of the bed. Although a big part of him was telling him he was probably hearing things, there was this small feeling that was tugging his heart. Well, he might just be overthinking, but it was better to check. Moreover, Jennie went to the kitchen, and she was taking quite some time.

"Kya!!!"
Jevin woke up from the ominous scream. It was faint, but because of how quiet the mansion was at night, such noise would penetrate even through their soundproof rooms.
"Mommy?" he mumbled while rubbing his eyes, still a little groggy. He turned his head at the shut door, wondering if he was dreaming just now or truly heard his mother's scream.
Jevin stayed seated on the bed for an entire minute before jumping off the bed to check what the scream was. He didn't show even a shred of fear, marching straight to the door. The moment Jevin was in front of the door, he stopped with furrowed eyes.
"Did she buy this?" he wondered, staring at the portable double lock in his door. "Now that I think about it, she always locks my door."
Jennie would tuck Jevin in every single night ever since he arrived home from his vacation with his grandparents. Since then, Jevin had noticed she usually leave his door locked from the inside. He didn't mind since Dara has a key, but a double lock was a little surprising.
"I wonder why," he mumbled to himself, figuring out how to remove the portable double lock. Fortunately, Jevin had a knack for figuring out even the hardest riddles, and this one was quite easy to crack.
The second Jevin took out the double lock and left the room, he immediately caught a person's figure from the corner of his eye.
"Young Master?" Dara rushed to his side, squatting down with this inexplicable smile. "Why are you awake?"
"I heard a scream." Jevin blinked innocently. "What is it?"
"Oh." Dara was forced to keep her smile, snapping her eyes at the end of the corridor. "It's probably nothing."
Dara set her focus on the young master, squeezing his hand slightly. "We should return to your room. I'll tuck you in, alright?"
Jevin's brows creased, studying Dara's expression. "Don't lie, Dara. Your face tells me something is going on."
"Young Master."
"You know how I hate it when people think I'm unaware." Jevin moved his hand and walked back. "Let's go. Father will come here if something is wrong."
As soon as he said his piece, Jevin walked back to his room, leaving the door open. Meanwhile, Dara just stared at the young master's back and sighed. She didn't say anything, following Jevin inside his room before locking it securely.
As Jevin's nanny, Dara's room was just right beside his. Her job was not only to take care of him but to protect him at all costs if the situation calls it. Dara's priority was to make sure Jevin was safe in any situation. Therefore, the moment she heard that scream, she immediately went to Jevin to keep him company instead of checking what it was.
Still, Dara was curious.
What was that scream about?
What was going on?
Was it a thief? But the scream sounded scary! Anyone who heard it knew something was wrong.
Myriads of questions hovered over Dara's head, sitting on the chair near the young master's bed, eyes on the shut door.
'I don't feel good about this.'

"Kya!!!"
Jennie's scream echoed louder than it should have, thanks to the quiet night in the mansion. After screaming her lungs out, the corner of her lips curled up into a smirk. Taking Andrea off guard, she pulled Andrea's hand that was holding the knife, stabbing herself without a second hesitation.
Andrea's already dilated eyes went even wider as her entire body froze. She felt the sensation of someone's flesh and the warm liquid that squirted onto her hand, but her frozen eyes couldn't look away from Jennie.
It took Andrea a moment to realize what was going on, and when the situation sank in, her chapped lips turned pale.
'No...' Andrea's grip on the knife loosened, but Jennie's grip around her hand tightened. 'This is not... I didn't do it.'
It was true Andrea planned to cut Jennie tonight. She was planning to kill Jennie and make Lisa suffer from losing a loved one in his very home. But now that the knife went through Jennie's, Andrea felt her entire body quivering in fear and regret.
She wanted Jennie dead, but not this way.
How complicated.
Andrea was uncertain of the root of why she was feeling the way she was feeling, but one thing was for sure. She stepped on a landmine. If she ever stepped away, it would explode on her and would shred her into countless pieces.
"Ugh..." When Jennie winced, she loosened her grip on Andrea's hand.
Andrea instinctively let the knife go, taking a step back, eyes still fixed on Jennie. Her eyes fell on the knife in the side of Jennie's stomach. The latter was still holding the knife while blood was squirting through the gaps in her fingers.
So much blood... but Andrea was certain only half an inch went through. It was almost a graze, but the blood made it look so much worse. Andrea should be running for it, but a part of her told her that would only make things worse.
"What..." Andrea's breath hitched as she slowly raised her shaking eyes, whispering her words. "... do you want?"
Jennie was still wincing while putting pressure on her wound. She said nothing as she simply puckered her lips, shushing. It was just for a split second, but Andrea understood why her feet were frozen on the spot.
This was how Jennie would dispose of her.
"Madam!"
