Lucas was so horrified at the turn of events he didn't even know how they reached the clinic. All he could remember was being carried from the elevator all the way to the building's clinic. He remembered the strange looks on the people in the lobby, watching how a man like Bear with a wide and towering physique carried him like a princess!

"Hah..." his parted lips grew wider as his face reddened in embarrassment.

SLAP!

Lucas flinched when something landed on his forehead with a slapping sound. He snapped his eyes, moving his shaking, wide, unblinking eyes to the person standing beside the bed he was lying on.

"Dara will come here and bring you some warm soup and food. You should eat and then drink the medicine," said Jennie in one go, crossing her arms under her chest. "You'll be fine if you just rest more."

"You!" Lucas gasped, abruptly sitting upright. "What the hell are you doing? How can you —"

"If you don't want to be carried by Bear next time, you should've gone to the penthouse if you're not feeling well." Jennie was unfazed, stopping herself to lecture him more harshly. "Just where do you think you're going in that state? To the convenience store? Don't you have a medicine kit in your place?"

Lucas ground his teeth, clicking his tongue in irritation. "I am fine, okay!? If you think this is enough to take me on your side, you're wrong! I've been independent even before you came to this family — I can take care of myself, alright?!"

"Are you done?" Jennie's expression grew more indifferent. "If so, rest now and lie down."

"..." Lucas opened and closed his mouth, but his voice didn't come out. All he could do was click his tongue, collapsing on his back grumpily.

"I'm off to work, but I told Dara to look after you for a moment. Once you feel better, stay in the penthouse. In that case, someone can look after you." Jennie unfolded her arms, leaving him some notes in case he needed to hear them. "Did you hear me?"

"What do you mean you're off to work?" he blurted out, looking at her suspiciously.

"It means what it means." Jennie shrugged. "Now, off I go."

Jennie waved dismissively, turning on her heel to leave. As she marched away, Lucas kept his eyes on her back.

"She's back to acting?" he arched a brow. "Why? Did she need money?"

Lucas pondered about it for minutes until his face turned sour. He shook his head, getting rid of any thoughts that were about his evil sister-in-law.

"Forget it. That nosy sister-in-law is much more annoying now," he grumbled before looking up, touching the patch on his forehead. "As if she really cares. Hmph!"

Lucas huffed quietly, relaxing his burning body on the bed. His eyes slowly shut and before he knew it, he fell asleep.

"He's really stubborn," Jennie murmured, cupping her cheek while her eyes were on the window. Meanwhile, Bear glanced at the rear mirror to see what she was doing in the backseat.

"Fortunately, he's just childish and stubborn," she continued, thinking about her stubborn brother-in-law. "Still, he needs to take care of himself." — so he could be more useful in the future.

'Even though his brother-in-law shamelessly publicizes his dislike to her, she still cares for him,' thought Bear as he set his eyes on the road.

Little did he know, Jennie cared about Lucas's well-being because she knew he would come in handy in the future. It wasn't all about care or the like, but the benefits she could reap once Lucas opened up his heart to her. Although Jennie had Lisa and Jevin, and Grandma Manoban was very fond of her, she needed someone else in the Manoban family to establish her footing in the family.

Surely, Jennie was just as busy despite the lack of action. Though everything would need time before they could come into place. She needed a lot of patience.

There were minutes of silence in the vehicle as neither Jennie nor Bear spoke. Bear focused his attention on the road, driving her to the location where they would shoot the film. He stopped wondering when would she plan to inquire about the thing she asked him to do, or if she had forgotten about it or simply lost interest.

"Bear, how's the thing I asked of you?" out of nowhere, Jennie broke the silence with a nonchalant voice.

Bear glanced at the rear mirror, only to see her still staring out the window. "It'll take some time, Madam."

'Take some time? A day is enough, but I guess he didn't want to appear suspiciously experienced in those sorts of stuff,' Jennie mentally chuckled, casting the driver seat a quick look. "Is that so?"

"I asked a friend of mine to do me a favor. He said it will take some time," he explained monotonously, refocusing his eyes on the road ahead. "The order you asked for isn't that easy, after all."

"You asked a friend, huh?" Jennie rocked her head in understanding. 'Was it Bobby? I didn't think he would keep contact with him since Bear didn't really like the guy.'

"Don't worry. I didn't tell him too many details that will implicate you," Bear reassured, assuming Jennie was worried he revealed her involvement.

'I'm not worried, though,'she replied in her mind, setting her eyes back to the window. 'It's already given you won't implicate me in this. If that was your plan, you wouldn't have burned that rope. I wonder what Bobby is doing now?'

Jennie's mind drifted in the long past upon remembering a pervert. Although she had many negative comments about this certain pervert, it was undeniable Bobby was one of the most reliable people in the organization. Just like Bear, Bobby received direct orders from her and had equal authority as Bear. Though his expertise was different from Bear's.

'I guess I have to accept that this is inevitable,' she told herself. 'Dragging Bear in my business will inevitably connect me with those people. As much as I hate it, I'll have to prepare and be ready to bring forth inferno on earth if necessary... all to protect my family.'

While Jennie was deep in thought, half of Bear's consciousness drifted to the occurrence a month ago.
