In most cases, having affectionate parents affects their child positively. Therefore, when Jennie noticed Jevin's presence in the kitchen, she didn't think much about it. In her mind, it would be good for Jevin's development to see his parents having a good relationship.

Little did she know, Jevin had a different take in witnessing his father being too affectionate to his mother. Feeling betrayed was not even an exaggeration, albeit he didn't show it to his mother.

"Eat more, baby." Jennie placed more food on Jevin's plate, smiling. "Did you have a good night's rest?"

"Mm." Jevin nodded, sitting beside his mother while Lisa perched on the head seat located at the end of the table. "I like it."

"Mommy made it, so I'm happy you do." Jennie giggled, eating her own food while frequently checking on her son.

How clueless.

She didn't know that the breakfast wasn't as peaceful as how it appeared. Lisa kept glancing at his wife and son, and every once in a while, he would receive death glares from Jevin.

'How rude,' thought Lisa, chewing his food carefully. 'Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed?'

Unlike Jennie, who perceived her son as an innocent little baby who needed to be taken care of like a glass, Lisa knew his son from inside and out. Lisa was aware of how smart and mature his son was, and he knew when Jevin was displeased about something.

Jevin didn't even need to say a word because Lisa could read his son like an open book. They were alike, after all.

The thing was, Lisa had no idea why his son was mad at him. He had no clue. For all he knew, he didn't do anything to deserve the glares.

'Is it because...' Lisa glanced at Jennie before shifting his attention back to Jevin. His expression turned solemn. 'I see. Hah. How foolish. Is he trying to compete with me?'

A glint flickered across Lisa's pair of sharp eyes, and at the same time, Jevin held his father's gaze.

'If you understand what this is, then you should back down,' was what was in the boy's mind while holding his father's gaze. 'Don't compete with your son.'

'I'm not. It'll be a pity if I do.'

'A pity? Hah. Surely, you have no idea you're taking on a losing war.'

'I... never lost.'

'Then I'll gladly give you the taste of defeat for the first time.'

Bzt Bzt!

The tension between Jevin and Lisa was palpable while Jennie ate her meal in blissful ignorance. After a second, she raised her brows and darted her eyes between the two.

"Uhm, is there something wrong?" she broke the silence, puzzled. "I feel like you two are talking telepathically, leaving me out."

"What are you saying?" Lisa smiled gently. "You're not being left out."

"Are you sure?" Jennie arched a brow. 'But it did feel that way.'

"We're just enjoying breakfast since this is the first time we had breakfast together." This time, Jevin chimed in with the most adorable voice he could use. "Thank you for the breakfast."

Jennie faced her son, and her heart instantly warmed up. "You're welcome, baby. Do you want me to give you more food?"

"Sure." Jevin nodded and Jennie instantly added more meat and vegetable to his place. As his mother served him, the corner of his lips curled up arrogantly as he cast Lisa a triumphant look.

"You too, Lisa." Just then, Jennie also placed a piece of meat on her husband's plate. "You should eat more, so you have energy for the entire day."

"Thank you."

"You're always welcome." Jennie winked at him and then shifted her attention back to Jevin.

This time, Lisa smirked at his son with an arched brow. The smile on the boy's face faded, replaced with a layer of frost. However, the coldness in his eyes instantly disappeared when Jennie raised her eyes to him.

"Do you also want this?" asked Jennie, brows raised.

"No. I'm good." Jevin clutched Jennie's arm, sporting a puppy look. "But my hands hurt a bit."

"What?!" Jennie gasped in panic, eyes shaking as she studied him. "Why? Where are you hurt? Should I call a doctor?"

"It's not that much of a big deal." He shook his head. "Probably I strained in due to a bad sleeping position. It happened before, so I know it'll be fine if I rest it."

"Oh..." Jennie breathed in relief.

"But it's still a bother to eat. Can you feed me?"

"Well, of course!" Jennie didn't even think twice to answer. "Come, let me do it for you."

Lisa frowned, watching how Jevin slowly turn his wife into his slave. This was the first time his son acted this way since Jevin used to be indifferent to attention. Matter of fact, Jevin disliked attention.

He understood, though. Lisa was the same as his son. If it was Jennie's attention they were talking about, he wanted her undivided devotion.

'Fine.' Lisa breathed out as he continued his meal. 'I'll give this round to him.'

Little did he know, this round was not the only round Jevin was planning to win. Even the next one, the one after that, and then the rest until he could monopolize his mother.

People often said Jevin took after his father so much that one wouldn't question whether they were father and son. Lucas used to complain about it, blaming Lisa for why Jevin didn't know how to have fun because the child took after his father. However, Lisa didn't see that as a problem. If anything, he preferred his son to be like him, because that lessened his worry about things.

Only today Lisa realized not all the qualities his son got from him were a hundred percent good traits. For instance, his tendency to be overly possessive. Lisa had learned through years of experience that being overly possessive was not good in business, but his son, on the other hand, hadn't had that realization yet.

Jevin could be very territorial. If Jevin claimed something as his, no one else could touch his things without his permission. That also applied to people.

'This... is a problem,' thought Lisa, glancing at his wife who was feeding their son. 'Sharing... he doesn't like sharing.'
