Throughout the month and a half that Veronica was there, they had established a routine. Charlie would go to work, and when he came back, they would go out and explore. They found plenty of good restaurants and pubs, and Charlie constantly impressed her with how good his Romanian was getting.

Before they knew it, it was Veronica's final day in Romania as she would be traveling by Floo Powder back to Hogwarts that night. While Charlie was at work, Veronica cooked them dinner and decided to make a Rhubarb Crumble. Molly had shown her how to make it so many times, but she never had a chance until now. As Charlie walked through the door, he saw her flitting around the kitchen cleaning as he smelled the Crumble baking in the oven, and he couldn't help but notice how domestic it felt. The last month and a half had felt like a dream come true. It gave him a taste of what it would be like if they were to be together, and he wanted it to last forever.

And that night, as she stood in front of the fireplace with her trunk packed, he hated himself for not telling her how he felt. But it was too late. She had her dream job waiting for her at Hogwarts, and he couldn't stand in the way of that. So instead, they stood in his living room hugging for Merlin-knows-how-long before Veronica finally pulled away.

Charlie wiped the tears that had fallen onto her rosy cheeks, and placed two soft kisses in their place. "Please don't cry, Ronnie."

"I'm going to miss you so much, Charlie," she sniffled. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself. The last thing she wanted was to make him feel bad or guilty for moving a million miles away from her. "But we're going to write all the time, won't we?"

"Of course we will! And I'm only a Floo Network journey away. You can visit anytime, and I'll try to visit whenever I can too."

Veronica nodded her head silently, knowing if she tried to speak, she would only burst into tears again. Giving Charlie one final hug, she grabbed a handful of floo powder, threw it into the fireplace, and yelled "DUMBLEDORE'S OFFICE AT HOGWARTS." Quickly, she stepped into the flame before she had a chance to change her mind.

Charlie itched to pull her back into his chest. To tell her not to go. To beg her to stay with him, and to tell her he loved her, but he didn't. He just watched her go.
