Taylor's Perspective
——————————————————————
21st September 2018
Taylor had just returned from the hospital after her working hours. She parked her car in the driveway, got out with some groceries, and unlocked the door with her keys. As she entered, the familiar sound of a football match blared from the TV, signaling that her parents were already here for their visit.
She walked into the living room and greeted her dad with a teasing tone, "Hey Dad! Still in love with that TV, I see?"
Her dad, still engrossed in the match, gave her a brief glance and replied, "Hi sweetheart. How was work today?"
Taylor responded with a playful edge, "You wanna know right now? Maybe when you're not busy serenading the TV, you could actually listen."
Scott looked her way, puzzled. "Huh? Sorry, what did you just say?"
Taylor sighed dramatically, "Nothing, Dad. Just talking to myself while you're busy with your first love."
Andrea, who was standing in the doorway to the kitchen, laughed and followed Taylor as she set the bags on the counter. She then turned around and embraced her mother warmly. "Hi Mom! I missed you so much."
Andrea hugged her tightly, her voice full of warmth. "I missed you too, my baby. It feels like forever since we had one of these hugs."
Taylor chuckled, her eyes softening. "You still call me 'baby' even though I'm practically pushing thirty. Some things never change."
Andrea smiled, her eyes twinkling. "And I wouldn't have it any other way."
After dinner, as they were setting the table, they heard Scott exclaim, "Oh shit!" Curious about the commotion, Taylor and Andrea looked toward the TV. Medics were helping a player off the field, and the replay showed the player had scored a touchdown but was then tackled and didn't get up.
Taylor, her medical instincts kicking in, remarked, "That definitely looks painful. Hope it's nothing too serious."
Scott sighed, a hint of concern in his voice. "I hope he gets better soon. He's one of the best tight ends in the history of the NFL."
A FEW DAYS LATER
This morning, after seeing her parents off at the airport, Taylor entered her hospital. She was greeted by her security guards. "Mornin', Chief," they said. Taylor smiled and replied, "Morning, Drew. Morning, Kam."
As she walked in, she saw Tree, her personal assistant, pacing a few steps from the entrance. The look on Tree's face made it clear that something was up. Taylor remarked with a playful tone, "Uh oh! Looks like someone's been caught up in a whirlwind."
Tree, clearly unamused, said, "Haha, very funny."
Taylor chuckled and asked, "What? No 'good morning'? I'm feeling positively neglected here."
Tree sighed. "Good morning, Taylor. But, seriously, we have a bit of a situation."
Taylor responded, "Good morning, Tree. Now, what's got you pacing like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs?"
Tree began, "Do you know who Travis Kelce is?"
Taylor raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Is this a pop quiz? Because I haven't had my coffee yet."
Tree continued, "He's the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. He got injured in a game a few days ago and wants to get treated here."
Taylor's eyes lit up as she remembered. "Oh, right! Dad was glued to the TV. That touchdown was insane. So, what's the holdup? Just give him a bed and some treatment."
Tree hesitated. "Well, he's also requesting a physiotherapist."
Taylor checked her phone as it buzzed with a text from her mom. "Alright, so get him a physiotherapist. What's the big deal?"
Tree replied, "They're specifically asking for you."
Taylor sighed, typing a quick response. "Tell them I'm the chief of the hospital and my schedule is tighter than a drum."
Tree rolled her eyes. "I did tell them that, but they were pretty insistent. They said they really need to speak with you personally."
Taylor frowned. "Tree, I've got back-to-back meetings and a mountain of paperwork. I barely have time to breathe, let alone meet a football player."
Tree said, "I get it, but they're already here in your office, asking for five minutes."
Taylor groaned. "You know what? Alright. Get someone to bring my coffee—make it strong. I'll go and see what the fuss is about. Maybe if I charm him with my dazzling personality, he'll be on his way soon."
Tree smirked. "That's the spirit. I'll get your coffee and have them wait in your office."
Taylor headed toward her office, mumbling, "If I'm going to be a hero today, I'd better make it quick. I don't think my calendar can handle a football-sized interruption."
