This Love

(Taylor's Perspective)

"I love someone else..."

That's all Taylor could hear, echoing in her mind as she fled the hospital. Her heart ached, her chest tight, the words reverberating painfully as if they had been carved into her. She didn't even know where she was walking, only that she needed air—space to think. Tears blurred her vision, her feet taking her absentmindedly to the place she and Travis always went to unwind. Their spot.

How could I be so stupid?

She sat down heavily on the bench by the bridge, staring out over the water, her emotions a jumbled mess. Every time she closed her eyes, all she could see was his face. All she could think about was him.

She had fallen in love with Travis Kelce. Her patient, her friend—her best friend. And now, it hurt more than anything she'd felt in years. Taylor had been so careful to guard her heart, to protect herself after all the pain of her past, but somewhere along the line, Travis had slipped through her defenses.

Her heart twisted painfully in her chest, her tears flowing faster. She felt so stupid. Stupid for falling in love with him, for letting herself dream of a life with him—laughing together, holding each other, sharing moments in a way that made her feel like maybe, just maybe, she could have that kind of happiness again.

But now? Now that her heart had been shattered from a height she hadn't even realized she was standing on, she didn't know if she had the strength to put the pieces back together. Not this time.

(Travis's Perspective)

After Travis made it clear to Kayla that it was over—truly over—he ensured she left the hospital. The moment she was gone, his mind immediately went to Taylor. He needed to find her. To explain.

He couldn't find her. He checked her office, but it was empty. Panic flickered in his chest, and he knocked on Tree's cabin.

"Come in," Tree's voice called.

He stepped in, looking more unsettled than Tree had ever seen him. "Have you seen Taylor?"

Tree furrowed her brows. "No, I haven't. Last I saw her was when we left you and your girlfriend alone. But I thought she stayed behind." She gave him a questioning look. "Did you try calling her?"

Travis ran a hand through his hair, clearly frustrated. "She's not my girlfriend, Tree. And yes, I tried calling. She's not answering."

Tree, noticing his anxiety, softened. "Hold on, I'll try." She pulled out her phone and dialed Taylor, but it went straight to voicemail.

Travis let out a deep sigh and sat in the chair across from her.

Tree leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. "Is Kayla gone?"

Travis nodded, rubbing his temples. "Yeah, she's gone. But now I can't find Taylor."

Tree leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms. "So, you didn't get back together with Kayla?"

"Of course not," Travis said quickly.

Tree tilted her head. "Why not?"

Travis looked at her for a moment before letting out a small, soft laugh. "You already know why, Tree."

Tree smirked, leaning back in her chair. "Do I?"

Travis's smile turned tender as he stared at the floor. "I love Taylor."
