(Taylor's Perspective)
The past few weeks had been a whirlwind of emotions and routines. Taylor and Travis had fallen into an easy rhythm—weekday evenings spent unwinding together after her long hospital hours and his intense workouts, and weekends reserved for lazy mornings, late-night movie marathons, and stolen kisses that felt like they could stretch into forever.
This weekend, Taylor was at Travis's apartment, lying comfortably on his bed with her head resting on his bare chest. His steady heartbeat under her cheek was a sound she'd grown to love, grounding her in a way she didn't expect.
Breaking the silence, Travis spoke softly, his voice vibrating under her cheek. "I was thinking of going to Philly this week. Ky's due date is really soon, and I want to be there when she gives birth."
Taylor tilted her head slightly to look at him. "Of course, you should be there," she said, her voice warm with encouragement.
Travis hesitated for a beat before continuing, his fingers gently twirling a strand of her blonde hair. "Will you come with me?"
The question caught Taylor off guard. She blinked, processing his words. "Uh... I... what?"
Travis chuckled, his chest rumbling under her as he leaned back slightly to look her in the eyes. He reached for her shoulders, gently pulling her up so they were face-to-face, his hands resting lightly on her waist.
"I want you to come with me to Philly," he said, his tone soft but sure. "I'd like to introduce you officially... you know, to my family."
Taylor stared at him, momentarily speechless. Her heart thudded in her chest as she tried to form a coherent thought.
Travis saw the uncertainty flickering in her eyes and leaned in to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Hey," he murmured against her skin. "It's okay if you don't want to come. No pressure."
Taylor let out a sigh, shaking her head slightly. "It's not that..." she trailed off, her voice hesitant.
"What is it, then?" Travis asked, his voice laced with genuine curiosity and concern.
Taylor sat up slightly, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her oversized T-shirt. "I think it's a big step, you know? Introducing each other to our families officially. I mean... my mom's already called it, but I think I should actually tell her now. Make it real."
Travis chuckled, sitting up too and brushing a hand through his messy hair. "So, basically, everyone but us already knew?"
Taylor rolled her eyes but smiled. "We weren't exactly subtle, Travis."
"That's true," he admitted with a laugh, leaning his shoulder against hers. "But what else is bothering you? I can see those wheels turning in your head."
Taylor bit her lip, hesitating before speaking. "Kylie's about to have a baby, Travis. She's going to need her family around her, people she's comfortable with. I'm just... some girl you're dating. I don't want to impose or overstep."
Hearing her words, Travis immediately reached for her hands, his large palms engulfing hers. He tilted his head slightly, forcing her to meet his eyes.
"Taylor, you are not just some girl to me," he said firmly, his voice steady and full of emotion. "We're both nearly 30. I'm not saying we're old," he added with a teasing smirk that made her smile despite herself, "but we're also not getting any younger. I want to tell you that you're it for me, okay? I love you, and I plan on sticking with you forever. So no more of this 'just some girl' nonsense, alright?"
Taylor felt her heart swell at his words, the sincerity in his tone making her chest tighten. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, but instead of letting them fall, she leaned forward and pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his lips.
