His confession hung in the air between them, heavy with the weight of all the emotions he'd been bottling up for so long. Taylor felt a tear slip down her cheek, but she didn't bother wiping it away. Instead, she reached out and took his hand, squeezing it gently.

"You're not alone, Travis," she said, her voice thick with emotion. "You don't have to go through this alone. It's okay to be scared... it's okay to not have all the answers right now."

Travis squeezed her hand back, his grip firm but trembling. "I've been so afraid of failing... of letting everyone down. My family, my team, you..."

Tears welled up in his eyes, but he didn't wipe them away. "I know how much this has hurt my family. My mom... she's always been so strong, but I can see how much this is tearing her apart. And Jason... he's been trying so hard to hold everything together, to be there for me. And Wyatt... God, Taylor, she used to look at me like I was her hero. And now? I can't even look her in the eyes. I feel like a failure."

Taylor's heart broke at the anguish in his voice. She could see the weight of the guilt he was carrying, how it was crushing him under its weight. Without thinking, she moved closer, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. "Travis, you're not a failure," she whispered fiercely, her voice thick with emotion. "You're not. You've been through so much, and yes, maybe you've made mistakes, but that doesn't define who you are. You haven't let anyone down, Travis. Your family loves you, no matter what. And as for me..." She hesitated, choosing her words carefully. "I'm proud of you. Not because of what you've accomplished on the field, but because of the strength it's taken for you to get this far."

Travis let out a shaky breath, his tears finally spilling over as he clung to her. "But I've pushed them all away, Taylor. I've been so consumed by my own pain that I didn't even see what it was doing to the people I love. And now... I'm afraid I've lost them."

Travis swallowed hard, his emotions threatening to overwhelm him. "I guess... I just never realized how much I was running away. From my feelings, from the people who care about me... from myself. I thought I was being strong by not letting anyone in, but all I was doing was building walls."

Taylor nodded, understanding all too well what he meant. "Sometimes we build those walls to protect ourselves, but all they do is keep the pain inside.

Taylor pulled back slightly, just enough to look him in the eyes. Her gaze was steady, filled with determination. "You haven't lost them, Travis. It's not too late. They love you, and they want to be there for you. But you have to let them in. You have to let them help you, just like you're helping yourself by coming here every day, by working on getting better."

He nodded, his breath hitching as he tried to compose himself. "But what if... what if I can't fix this? What if I've already done too much damage?"

Taylor shook her head, her grip on his shoulders firm. "It's never too late to make things right. You can't change the past, but you can change how you move forward. You've already taken the first step by opening up to me, by admitting that you're struggling. Now, take the next step. Talk to your family. Apologize. Tell them how much they mean to you. And trust me, they will forgive you. They want to forgive you. And who you are, Travis... is someone worth fighting for. You're not just a football player. You're a brother, a son, an uncle... and a friend. Those things don't go away just because of an injury."

Travis looked at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of fear and hope. "Do you really think they will?"

Taylor smiled, her voice soft but confident. "I know they will. They love you, Travis. And they'll be so relieved to know that you're trying, that you're fighting to come back to them. They don't need you to be perfect—they just need you to be there."

He nodded slowly, the tension in his shoulders finally beginning to ease.Travis looked at her, his eyes filled with a new determination. "I don't want to be that person anymore. I don't want to keep running. I want to face this... whatever happens. And I know it's not going to be easy, but I'm ready to try. I'm ready to fight for my life... not just my career, but for everything that really matters. You're right. I need to do this. I need to talk to them, to make things right."

Taylor placed a gentle hand on his cheek, her eyes shining with encouragement. "And you will. The next time you see your mom, give her a big hug and tell her you're sorry. When you see Jason, thank him for being there for you, for being your brother. And when you see Wyatt, tell her how much you've missed her."

Travis swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he replied, "I will. I promise."

They sat there for a moment longer, the weight of the conversation hanging in the air, but there was a new sense of hope between them. Taylor could see it in his eyes, the resolve that had been absent for so long.

She smiled softly, sneaking a quick text to Jason, asking him to bring Wyatt to the hospital. She knew that Travis needed this—he needed to take that step now, while the resolve was fresh in his mind.

Travis's eyes filled with tears again, but this time they were tears of acceptance, of hope. "Thank you, Taylor. I... I don't think I would have made it this far without you."

Taylor shook her head, a gentle smile on her lips. "You would have. Maybe it would have taken longer, but you would have found your way. Because that's who you are, Travis. You're a fighter."

For a moment, they just sat there, holding hands, feeling the connection between them deepen in a way neither had expected. The silence was no longer tense but comforting, a shared understanding passing between them.

Finally, Travis broke the silence, his voice soft but steady. "You know... I used to think that football was the only thing that defined me. That without it, I was nothing. But now... now I realize that I'm more than just a player. I'm more than just a set of skills or a position on a team. And I'm ready to figure out who that person is."

Taylor's smile widened, her heart full. "And I'll be right here with you, every step of the way."

Travis nodded, his heart feeling lighter than it had in months. "I'm glad... because I don't think I could do this without you."

Taylor squeezed his hand one last time before letting go. "You won't have to."
