(2nd May)

Travis's voice was quiet but sincere as he broke the comfortable silence between them. "I was thinking... maybe tomorrow we could hang out, you know? Like normal people. No therapy, no exercises. Just... friends."
Taylor raised an eyebrow, amused. "Normal people?"
Travis chuckled, a faint smile pulling at his lips. "You know what I mean. Friends, not doctor and patient."
She gave him a small smile, intrigued but wary. "Alright, what do you have in mind?"
"Well, I was thinking we could do the session before lunch, then grab something to eat. Maybe head to the beach afterward and just hang out for a while. No pressure. Only if you want to." His tone was casual, but there was a hopefulness in his eyes, something gentle, like he really wanted her to say yes.
Taylor's face shifted when he mentioned the beach. Her expression, once open, became distant. A heavy silence lingered between them as her mind wandered to places she hadn't visited in years—places filled with memories, what-ifs, and things lost too soon. The beach had always been a symbol of peace, but it had also been the site of so much pain.
Travis noticed the shift. He leaned in slightly, his voice softer, more careful. "Hey, Tay?"
She blinked, snapping out of the spiral. "Yeah, sorry. What were you saying?"
"I just thought... you've always liked being near the water, so maybe you'd like the beach. But if it's too much, we can do something else. It's totally fine."
Taylor shook her head quickly, trying to shake off the hesitation. "No, no. It's fine. I used to love going to the beach... It's just been a long time."
Travis's concern deepened. "Are you sure? You don't have to force yourself."
There was a pause. Taylor took a breath, her voice steadier, but softer. "I'm sure. Maybe it's time I went back." She said it more to herself than to him, as if she were trying to convince her own heart that she could face that part of her past again.
Travis gave her a gentle smile, the kind that said he understood more than he let on. "Alright then," he said with a playful grin, raising his hands in surrender. "Tomorrow's officially a 'besties day out.'"
Taylor laughed lightly, the sound small but real. "Sounds like it."

(Next Day-3rd May)
The next morning, Taylor was already waiting in Travis's room when he walked in, duffel bag in hand.
"You're late," she teased, her tone light as she sat on the edge of the treatment table.
Travis rolled his eyes, clearly unbothered. "By five minutes."
"What's with the bag?" Taylor asked, eyeing the duffel bag he carried.
"Oh, just stuff for the beach. You know... shorts, a towel, sunscreen, the stuff."
Taylor tilted her head, a smirk playing on her lips. "You came prepared, huh?"
"Of course. Can't have a 'besties day out' without proper beach gear," he quipped, matching her smirk.
"Alright, alright, Mr. Prepared. Sit down, let's get through this session."
As they moved through the exercises, they fell into an easy rhythm, their usual banter keeping things light.
"So," Taylor asked, "what are we doing for lunch? You have something in mind?"
Travis thought for a moment, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I was thinking maybe we grab something from McD's, just like normal friends on a Friday. No fancy stuff."
Taylor grinned. "I can get behind that. Give me a cheeseburger and chocolate milkshake, and I'll be happy for the rest of my life."
Travis barked out a laugh. "Seriously? Aren't doctors supposed to be, I don't know, healthy or something?"
Taylor scoffed playfully. "What kind of discrimination is this? A doctor can't enjoy a burger and milkshake? Blasphemy."
Travis smirked. "That's the kind of judgment you should expect from a football player."
They both laughed, the tension from the day before finally easing, and for a moment, everything felt light again.

Once they finished the session, Taylor changed into a floral sundress, pairing it with simple sandals. When she met Travis by his car, his eyes widened.
"Wow, you look... really beautiful," he said, his voice a bit hushed.
Taylor felt her cheeks heat up. "Thanks. Let's go, I'm starving." She flashed him a grateful smile, but also teased, "Look at you, being all gentlemanly." as he went to open the door for her.
Travis grinned as he opened the car door for her. "Hey, I was born a gentleman."
Taylor chuckled. "Says the guy who threw a chair at his preschool teacher."
Travis let out a mock gasp, pressing a hand to his chest in faux outrage. "I will never live that down, will I?"
"Nope," Taylor said, slipping into the passenger seat with a grin. Travis shook his head, still smiling as he slid into the driver's seat.
They reached McDonald's, ordered their food, and settled into the quiet rhythm of just... being. There was something comforting in the simplicity of it. No pressure, no expectations. Just two friends sharing a meal.
"So, how's everyone at home?" Taylor asked between bites of her cheeseburger. "How's Kylie?"
Travis's face lit up. "Everyone's doing great. We're all pretty excited about the baby. Jason and Kylie are amazing parents, and Wyatt's over the moon about being a big sister."
Taylor smiled softly, though there was a glint of something deeper in her eyes. "What about you?" she asked carefully.
Travis raised an eyebrow, a bit confused. "What about me?"
"Do you ever think about settling down? Having a family?" Taylor's voice was casual, but her eyes held an intensity that Travis didn't miss.
He paused for a moment, then sighed softly. "I did. I always wanted that—wanted a family. When I was with Kayla, I thought... I thought we were heading there. But after everything that happened, I kind of lost hope."
Taylor felt a pang in her chest. "And now?"
Travis hesitated, then smiled, a bit softer, a bit more vulnerable. "Now, I think... maybe it's not too late. Maybe I can still find that, find love again."
Taylor smiled, but her mind drifted, her thoughts pulling her away, back into the past. Back to things she'd lost, things she might never get back.
