Later that day, as Taylor was sitting in her office finishing up some paperwork, her phone buzzed on the desk. It was another message from Travis.

Travis: Miss me yet?

Her heart skipped a beat. It was such a simple question, but it carried so much weight, especially now that they had confessed their feelings. She smiled to herself, feeling the familiar warmth spread through her chest.

Taylor: You're impossible, you know that?

Travis: Impossibly charming, I hope?

Taylor: More like impossibly distracting.

Travis: I can live with that.

She shook her head, chuckling softly as she leaned back in her chair. It amazed her how easily he could make her smile, even when they weren't physically together.

It was only a matter of time and the line between them could finally blur.

Her phone buzzed again.

Travis: Can I see you later? Just to talk. No breaking the rules, I promise.

Taylor hesitated for a moment, her heart racing. She knew that spending time with him, even just talking, would make the wait even harder. But she also knew she couldn't stay away. Not anymore.

Taylor: Meet me by the bridge at 6.

As she set her phone down, Taylor leaned back in her chair, a soft smile on her face. These were the moments she lived for now—the quiet, intimate ones where they could just be themselves, away from the eyes of the hospital and the rules that kept them apart.

That evening, as the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the city, Taylor made her way to their usual spot by the bridge. Her heart was pounding in her chest, a mixture of excitement and anticipation swirling inside her.

When she arrived, Travis was already there, leaning casually against the railing, his eyes lighting up the moment he saw her. Taylor smiled, feeling that familiar warmth spread through her as she walked toward him.

"Hey," she greeted softly, coming to stand beside him.

"Hey yourself," Travis replied, his voice low and full of affection. They stood there for a moment, side by side, just soaking in the quiet of the evening.

Taylor turned to him, her heart full as she spoke. "You know, this whole waiting thing is harder than I thought it'd be."

Travis chuckled, his gaze never leaving hers. "Tell me about it. Every time I see you, I have to remind myself that we have to follow the rules."

Taylor smirked. "You? Following rules? Now that's a first."

He laughed, the sound warm and genuine, and Taylor felt herself falling even more in love with him in that moment. It wasn't just his charm or his wit—it was the way he made her feel seen, valued, and cherished.

"Only for you," he said softly, his voice full of sincerity.

Taylor walked into her office, exhausted from a long morning of rounds, only to find a cup of coffee sitting on her desk. A smile tugged at her lips as she spotted the post-it note stuck to it: "Only 2 weeks left, but who's counting?"

Her heart gave a little leap. She knew exactly who had left it there.

Grinning, she immediately pulled out her phone and typed.
