The grand library of Lyselle Palace smelled faintly of parchment, candle wax, and rosewater — a place where wisdom and worry often met.
Golden sunlight spilled through the tall arched windows, glinting off the ink bottles scattered across the map table.
You — Princess Y/N Kim of Lyselle, only daughter of King Aldric Kim and Queen Celene Kim — stood at the center of it all.
Known throughout the continent for your beauty and intellect, poets wrote of your grace, and courtiers spoke of your wit in hushed tones — though not always kindly.
They called you the jewel of Lyselle, the scholar princess, the flame that should've been born a prince.
Because unlike most princesses, you spent your mornings in council chambers and your nights studying war routes, history, and treaties instead of embroidery patterns.
And lately, you'd been doing little else — the threat of war loomed too close for sleep.
Spread before you were maps of two kingdoms — yours and the Empire of Asteron, ruled by King Jaeson Jeon and his son, Prince Jungkook Jeon — a name now whispered with fear and respect alike.
His armies were advancing fast, his strategies flawless. The royal court called him ruthless. You called him a man who needed to be stopped.
You were tracing a red line along the border when Lord Riven, one of your father's older advisors, cleared his throat.
"Your Highness," he began with a patronizing smile, "these are matters for men. His Majesty will handle the council when he returns."
The scratch of your quill stopped mid-line. The silence that followed was soft but sharp, like a blade being drawn.
You lifted your gaze — calm, composed, and far too regal to show offense.
Then you said, smoothly,
"If the men had done their job, I wouldn't need to."
The room froze. The other nobles shifted uncomfortably, one dropping his gaze to the floor.
But you didn't flinch. You sealed the letter you'd been writing, pressed your royal signet into the wax, and turned away from the stunned faces.
"Send this to the council of defense," you said coolly. "If they value their pride more than their land, they'll have their answer by morning."
Your footsteps echoed as you left the hall — elegant, unhurried, untouchable.
Outside, the wind carried whispers through the corridors of Lyselle Palace:
"The princess has taken the war into her own hands."
"They say she dares to challenge the Prince of Asteron."
And for the first time in a long while, you let yourself smile — faintly, like someone ready to fight fate itself.
The war room of Asteron Palace was built of black stone and silence. Maps covered every inch of the long oak table, marked with crimson pins and streaks of ink — the bleeding outline of kingdoms falling beneath Asteron's shadow.
