Jisoo whispered, her voice barely audible over the soft breeze of the evening. "So... she's dead?"

Emma nodded slowly, her throat tightening. "Yeah... she's gone."

Jisoo sighed, a sadness settling in her eyes as she leaned against the railing of the patio. "What brings you here, dear?"

Emma took a deep breath before speaking. "I want to find Jeon Jungkook... my grandmother's first love."

At that, Jisoo's head snapped up, her eyes widening in surprise. "Dear... he wasn't just her first love," she said softly. "He was also her last love."

Emma felt her chest tighten. "What?" she whispered. "Do you... do you know what happened to them?"

Jisoo shook her head. "Not really. In fact, no one does. One day, Y/N just stopped contacting me. Weeks passed, and suddenly, she was married. And Jungkook... he was nowhere to be found. Later, he called us—said he was in Japan. But he never told us anything. Just that he was brutally beaten, almost killed, and that he couldn't come back to Korea. And then... after Y/N's marriage, she left too. I never got the chance to speak to her again."

Jisoo let out a deep sigh, her voice heavy with regret. "The only thing we could do was pass along the last letter we found on Jungkook's table. And even that... I believe it wasn't enough. Whatever happened back then, dear, it wasn't simple. It was brutal."

Emma's mind raced. "Who's 'we'? You said 'we' know it was brutal."

Jisoo gave a small, nostalgic smile. "Taehyung and I."

Emma blinked. "Oh... so you two got together?"

Jisoo chuckled softly. "In the end, yes."

Jisoo studied her carefully before replying, "Did Y/n tell you all this?"

Emma hesitated before asking, "Kind of."

Emma sighed. "So... there's no one else who knows what really happened except Jungkook?"

Jisoo nodded. "Yes, I believe so."

Emma bit her lip before asking hesitantly, "And... is Uncle Taehyung still alive?" The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted how blunt she sounded.

To her relief, Jisoo laughed. "Yes, dear, he's very much alive. In fact, our 34-year-old daughter still insists on eating only baby vegetables, so he went to the market to buy some."

Emma smiled slightly, but before she could respond, Jisoo suddenly added, "And speaking of that—you're staying for lunch. With your boyfriend."

Emma's eyes widened in horror. "What? Boyfriend?" She turned red. "Oh no, Auntie, he's not my boyfriend!"

Jisoo raised a teasing brow. "Is that so?"

Meeting Aunt Jisoo was a blessing. Though Emma didn't get much information, she now knew one crucial thing—the letter she had found at the bookstore had not been sent by Jungkook himself. It had been given to her grandmother by Jisoo.

And now, in her hands, she also held the letters her grandmother had written to Jungkook while he had been suffering—probably in Japan, caught up in whatever tragedy had torn them apart.

Emma stared at the bundle of aged, fragile letters, her fingers trembling slightly. A part of her wanted to rip them open, to finally understand what had happened between them. But another part of her... wasn't ready.
