"Okay, big boy. We're here."
You tapped the steering wheel as the car rolled to a stop in front of Beomgyu's school.
He didn't even wait for the engine to quiet down. "Stop being dramatic, oldie," he muttered, grabbing his backpack.
Before you could blink, his hand flew to your head and completely destroyed the hair you'd spent almost an hour styling.
"YAH!" you gasped, whirling around to yell—but he was already halfway through the gate, booking it like he hadn't just committed first-degree hair sabotage.
You stared after him, jaw clenched. "I swear, that child was sent to test my patience."
With a heavy sigh, you tried to fix the mess on your head using the mirror, but it was hopeless. You rolled your eyes, grumbling under your breath, then shifted into reverse.
Just as you began backing out, someone suddenly stepped right behind your car.
"Shit!" you gasped, slamming the brakes hard enough to jolt your seatbelt.
Your eyes shot wide. Did I hit him?
No. No contact. But you definitely scared the soul out of him.
You scrambled out of the car, your heart hammering.
"I'm so sorry, sir—I didn't see you!" you said in a rush, practically bowing mid-sentence.
The man was crouched, picking up a few books he'd dropped. When he finally stood...
Your apology got stuck in your throat.
He was tall. Handsome. Soft black hair slightly tousled like it was meant to be that way. His shirt sleeves were rolled up just enough to show off forearms that shouldn't have looked that good. And then he smiled—gently, like it came naturally to him.
What the heck... does anyone even smile like that anymore?
"It's alright," he said, voice like warm tea on a cold morning. "I should've been watching where I was going too."
You blinked—twice, maybe three times—just to make sure he was real. Meanwhile, you suddenly became hyperaware of how your hair must look, thanks to Beomgyu's sneak attack. Great. Of all moments to look like you wrestled with a tornado...
"I still feel terrible," you mumbled, bowing again, trying to look even a little composed.
He returned the gesture politely before turning away and casually walking toward the school building like nothing had happened.
Your eyes followed him.
Does he... work here?
Your brain was still trying to catch up when your phone started blaring.
You answered without thinking. "Hello?"
"WHERE ARE YOU?!" Jisoo's voice exploded into your ear. "Your boss is breathing fire and asking for you every five minutes!"
"Oh my god." You slapped your forehead.
The meeting.
You'd completely forgotten.
"I'm on my way!" you blurted, practically throwing yourself back into the driver's seat.
