The Dragon in the North

Set in Motion

Several people were already sitting around the campfire. Daenys and the stranger joined them. She looked around briefly and felt that immense presence again. "You said you would only follow the true king or queen. How do you know who that is?" The people sitting around the campfire looked at Daenys intensely. "We can sense it." Daenys then looked at the person next to her in surprise. "We can sense the connection between dragons and their riders. We don't mean the king or queen of Westeros, but the Dragon Queen or Dragon King. This is the person we follow. Your connection to your dragons is unique and admirable. I assume you feel an immense presence here, am I correct?" "I've felt it since I arrived here." "Then we have finally found our queen and will swear our loyalty to you." Daenys looked at the people around her in astonishment.

In Dorne, Rhaenys, Jace, Aegon, and Helaena considered how they could help Daenys. "Helaena and I have discussed it again and decided to try conquering Essos again." "Are you sure?" "Yes, Aegon and I are very sure." Jace and Rhaenys simply nodded and glanced at each other briefly. "I will fly to Driftmark in Rhaenys's name and speak with Lord Corlys. Before I do that, however, I will fly back to Dragonstone and see if Mother can be brought to her senses, or rather, what she is planning." "But be careful." Jace nodded. "I will continue to stay here and support Prince Qoren and help him with his plans. Please, all of you, be careful."

Two days later, Aegon, Helaena, Jace, Rhaenys, and Prince Qoren stood before the dragons. Aegon and Helaena mounted Dreamfyre and Seasmoke and flew off. Jace mounted Vermax and flew toward Dragonstone. Rhaenys, Meleys, Sunfyre, and Prince Qoren watched them leave. "Hopefully, everything will work out this time." "I'm less worried about that. Princess Helaena has studied Essos long and hard. The people of Essos won't expect what's coming. I also think Jace will know what to do." Rhaenys just nodded and stroked Meleys's muzzle. "We should get to work too. We should do everything we can to support Daenys as best we can." "Then let's get back to planning." Prince Qoren and Rhaenys walked back and also began their part.

In Old Valyria, Daenys was currently sitting on a raised platform, deep in thought. That immense presence was still strongly felt, and her thought was to seek out the source. "We will help with that." Surprised, Daenys turned to the voice. "Isn't it too dangerous?" "Nothing is too dangerous for us." "Then I would be glad to have you at my side." The person nodded and left Daenys alone again. Her hand unconsciously slid to her stomach. She hoped the others were okay and didn't do anything rash. If only she knew what was being set in motion.

Lord Corly was still mourning his Rhaenys. He couldn't forgive Rhaenyra for simply accepting this. Had Rhaenys's life been worth so little in the eyes of the Black Queen? He didn't know it, but seeing what Rhaenyra was doing made him angrier and angrier. Suddenly, he heard a dragon roar and looked in the direction of the sound. Vermax landed in front of him, and Jace dismounted the young dragon. "Lord Corlys." Lord Corlys looked at Jace in surprise. "Jace, what are you doing here?" "I have something for you." Jace handed Lord Corlys Rhaenys' letter. Lord Corly opened the letter and read it. When he finished reading, he looked at Jace with wide eyes. "Is this true? Is she still alive?" "Yes, Daenys and Vermithor rescued Rhaenys and Meleys." "Let's go inside and discuss what Rhaenys mentioned in her letter."

In Dorne, Rhaenys was standing with Meleys and Sunfyre, observing the two dragons and the surroundings, when she noticed something out of the corner of her eye. She tried to see what was coming toward Dorne but couldn't quite see it yet. What was going on here?

I'm so sorry I'm only uploading a new chapter now. It's taken me a really long time to write this chapter. I don't know how many times I've deleted everything and started over. The same goes for "The Silver-Golden Queen." I'll try to upload a chapter for that story this weekend, too.
