Third person pov:
It has been a few weeks since vivian and Siobhan told marjorie and their other friends that Siobhan was expecting a baby, and the time was coming where they would have to go to their 20 week scan.
Siobhan is really nervous for this day, but vivian couldn't be more excited. Marjorie and reece had agreed to look after Jamie for the day so that they could enjoy this moment on their own.
The time came when it was time to head to the hospital. At this point, both girls were absolutely terrified but couldn't be more excited to see their little baby for the first time and find out the gender.
*time skip*
Vivian sat in the passenger seat, nervously tapping her fingers on her knee as Siobhan drove through the morning traffic. The sun filtered through the trees lining the road, casting dappled shadows on their windshield. Siobhan glanced over, noticing the subtle tension in Vivian’s posture.
“You okay?” Siobhan asked, her hand instinctively moving to her growing belly, which held their future. Vivian moved one of her hands and placed it on top of Siobhan's.
“Yeah, just excited. I mean, it’s the 20-week scan we’re halfway there,” Vivian replied with a soft smile. “I can’t wait to see our little baby again.”
Siobhan smiled back but could feel her own nerves fluttering inside her. Today was a big day. They were about to find out more about the tiny life growing inside her—about their child. She still remembered the day they had learned she was pregnant. Vivian had been ecstatic, lifting Siobhan off the ground in a tight embrace, tears of joy streaming down her face. It felt like their lives had shifted in a moment, that everything was now oriented toward the future.
*they arrive at the hospital*
They arrived at the clinic, holding hands as they walked inside. The waiting room buzzed with quiet conversations and the rustle of magazine pages, but neither of them noticed. The world seemed to shrink to just the two of them and the anticipation of what was coming.
Once they were called into the ultrasound room, Siobhan lay down on the cushioned table, her heart racing. Vivian stood beside her, holding her hand and refusing to let go as the technician prepared the equipment.
“Alright, Siobhan,” the technician began with a kind smile. “Let’s take a look at your little one.”
The cold gel made Siobhan shiver as it touched her skin, but soon, the warmth of the moment enveloped her as the black-and-white image appeared on the screen. Vivian’s grip on her hand tightened in excitement.
“There’s your baby,” the technician pointed out. A tiny form floated on the screen, moving slightly as if already restless in the womb. Siobhan’s heart swelled at the sight, and she could feel Vivian’s silent awe beside her.
But the technician frowned, her expression one of concentration as she continued to move the wand across Siobhan’s belly. Siobhan felt a flicker of worry. She exchanged a quick glance with Vivian, whose brow had furrowed.
“Is... everything alright?” Siobhan asked, her voice suddenly shaky.
The technician looked up, her face softening into a smile. “Oh, everything’s more than alright. It looks like you’re having twins.”
The room seemed to go silent for a moment, the words hanging in the air.
“Twins?” Siobhan repeated, her voice barely above a whisper. Her eyes widened as she turned to Vivian, who looked equally stunned.
“Twins,” the technician confirmed, adjusting the image to show both tiny forms. “And it looks like you’re expecting two girls.”
Vivian gasped, covering her mouth with her free hand. “Oh my God, Siobhan. Two girls!”
Tears welled up in Siobhan’s eyes as she stared at the screen, watching the outlines of their daughters—daughters—drifting side by side. She couldn’t believe it. It was overwhelming in the best possible way. She hadn’t been prepared for this for the idea of not one but two little lives growing inside her. Her heart felt impossibly full.
Vivian bent down and kissed her forehead, tears shining in her eyes. “We’re going to have twins. I can’t believe it.”
Siobhan laughed through her tears, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand. “I wasn’t ready for this. I mean, I thought one baby was already going to change everything.”
“Two little girls…” Vivian whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “We’re going to have two daughters, Siobhan. Can you imagine?”
Siobhan shook her head in disbelief, but she couldn’t stop smiling. “I can’t. But I think I’m starting to love them both already.”
The rest of the appointment passed in a blur. The technician pointed out little details—tiny feet, tiny hands, two little hearts beating steadily. Siobhan and Vivian listened, absorbing it all, still in awe of this new reality.
As they left the clinic, Vivian couldn’t stop talking about their future—how they’d decorate the nursery, how they’d have to pick two names now, how incredible it was that they’d be mothers to twin girls. Siobhan listened, holding onto Vivian’s hand, feeling a profound connection between them stronger than ever.
“I guess we should have expected that we’d be in for an adventure,” Siobhan said with a laugh as they reached the car. “Nothing about us has ever been simple.”
Vivian grinned, leaning in to kiss Siobhan softly. “No, but it’s perfect. Just like this. We’re going to have a family, Siobhan. Two beautiful little girls.”
Siobhan nodded, feeling the warmth of Vivian’s love surrounding her. It was true that their lives would never be the same. But as she placed her hand on her belly, feeling the faintest flutter of movement, she knew she was ready for this new chapter. With Vivian by her side and their daughters growing inside her, the future felt brighter than ever.
