Third person pov:
A week after the twins had fallen ill, they were finally back to their cheerful selves. Harper and Hailey had regained their energy, crawling around the house with wide grins and babbling non-stop. Siobhan and Vivian were relieved, but one thing was still missing—Harper and Hailey hadn't seen Marjorie and Reece in days, and it was clear they missed them terribly.
That morning, the doorbell rang, and Jamie ran to open it, knowing exactly who was on the other side. "Marjorie! Reece!" he yelled excitedly as soon as the door swung open.
Reece smiled down at Jamie, ruffling his hair. "Hey, buddy! I hear your sisters are feeling better!"
"They are! They really missed you," Jamie replied, stepping aside as Marjorie and Reece entered the house.
Marjorie, barely able to contain her excitement, headed straight to the living room where the twins were playing. As soon as Harper spotted her, her face transformed. Her wide, teary eyes locked onto Marjorie, and in an instant, her tiny lips began to tremble. She let out a soft, happy cry, and before anyone knew it, Harper was crawling as fast as she could toward Marjorie.
"Mar Mar!" she sobbed happily, her face flushed with emotion. Tears of joy streamed down her cheeks as she reached out for Marjorie, the months of attachment and love she had for her bursting to the surface.
Marjorie dropped to her knees, her own eyes misting over as she opened her arms wide. "Oh, Harper, sweetheart," she whispered, gathering Harper into her embrace. The little girl buried her face into Marjorie’s neck, her tiny body trembling with joyful sobs. Hailey, not far behind, also made her way to Marjorie, clapping her hands excitedly and giggling as if she couldn’t believe her favorite person was finally here.
"Mar Mar," Harper whispered again, clinging to Marjorie like she never wanted to let go.
Siobhan and Vivian stood in the doorway, overwhelmed by the sight of their daughter’s happy tears. Vivian leaned against Siobhan, whispering softly, "I’ve never seen her cry like that. She really missed Marjorie."
Siobhan nodded, her heart full as she watched Marjorie stroke Harper’s hair, gently soothing the little girl. "It’s amazing how attached they’ve gotten," she whispered back.
Meanwhile, Reece scooped Jamie into his arms. "Looks like your sisters missed us a lot, huh?"
Jamie nodded, watching Harper’s tearful reunion with a big grin on his face. "Yeah, especially Harper. She really loves Marjorie."
Reece chuckled. "Well, we missed them too. Now, what about that game you wanted to show me?"
As Reece and Jamie headed off to play, Marjorie sat down on the floor, holding both Harper and Hailey in her lap. Harper had stopped crying, but she still clung to Marjorie, her cheeks wet with happy tears. Hailey, ever the calm twin, leaned into Marjorie’s side, quietly babbling as she played with the hem of her shirt.
"You girls gave us quite the scare," Marjorie said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to Harper’s head. "But I’m so glad you’re better now."
Harper, still snuggled up against Marjorie, gazed up at her with adoration, her eyes red from the tears but full of happiness. She babbled something softly, her voice hoarse from crying, but the meaning was clear: she was overjoyed to have Marjorie back.
The rest of the morning was filled with laughter and love. Reece and Jamie played together, while Marjorie kept the twins close, not letting them out of her sight. Harper, still emotional, stayed clung to Marjorie’s side, while Hailey rested happily in her lap.
By midday, the family gathered together in the living room, the twins finally at peace now that they were reunited with Marjorie. Siobhan and Vivian sat on the couch, watching the scene unfold with warmth in their hearts, thankful for the bond their children had formed with their dear friends.
