Square One (Sequel to never say goodbye)

Chapter 45

Bri's P.O.V.

I walk into school with a new attitude. After what happened with my sister, I realized that I envy her. I envy her strength. So i am not longer going to be a push over. I'm going to fight my own battles now. The day was almost over and I'm heading to my last class. I walk to my locker and open it, I grab my books and started walking to my first class which was math.

Everyone had already cleared the hallways so my foot steps echoed. It was silent until I hear grunts and laughing. Out of curiosity I walked over to where the sounds were coming from. I stop when I see a gang of guys beating up a kid that clearly did nothing. I drop my bag and storm over to the boy who was currently throwing the punches and slapped him, hard. I slapped him so hard it echoed. I glared at the other two and they backed off. The middle one in which I slapped raised his hand to slap me but i just stood there with my arms crossed.

"You wouldn't hit a girl" I say "especially one that could so easily report you to the principal"

He takes his hand and placed it on the back of his neck to play it off.

"Leave" I say forcefully. I noticed the kid as Alex. He was the school player. He slept with pretty much every girl then dropped her. He glared at me then walked off.

I turned to the boy who was holding his side trying to stand.

"Here" I said holding out my hand. He took it and we started walking to the nurses office. When we got there the nurse came running up.

"Oh my god, David!" She says " this is the third time this week. Lay down let me take a look" she says. Third time? Wow. I stand in the doorway observing as she starts to patch him up. "You can head to class sweat pea" she says. I nod and turn to walk but stop and turn back to look at here.

"Is he going to be ok?" I ask.

"I don't know" she says "this is the worse condition he's been in, he may have broken a rib."

I nod and start to head to class. As I walk in the door half way through the lesson all eyes are on me. I see Alex in the back row chewing on his pencil looking at me.

"Ms. Hope" my teacher says " I hope you have a good reason for why your late"

"I was helping a kid to the nurse, he was in a bad condition and couldn't walk on his own" I say.

"Oh lord" she says "what happened?" I looked at Alex intently.

"I don't know, but the nurse thinks he broke a rib" I say. The teacher gasps and I take a seat.

What did I do that?!? Why did I save his ass?!? I should have ratted him out. Well look on the bright side now he owes me.

As the bell rings I pick up my stuff and head into the hallway. I feel a strong hand on my shoulder. I turn around and see Alex. His blue eyes looked into mine.

"I didn't hit him hard enough to break his rib" he says

"Well you did, but look on the bright side, you owe me" I say

"And how is that good for me?" He asks

"Well it's not but whatever" I say

"What do you want?"

"I want you to pretend to be my boyfriend." I say. I mean I have to get Cole off my back somehow, he's already caught up with his studies.

"No, hell no, not that" he says. I look around and see everyone starring because he said that loudly.

"Why don't we take this outside" I say grabbing his hand. As soon as I did that I hear people start to whisper. I walk out side and lead him behind me. "Now do you want to reconsider that, or I can just go to principle Murphy and tell him how you beat up David and how you hit me" I start to fake cry "and that she can ask the nurse and I was afraid to tell anyone because I though you would do it aga-"

"Ok fine I'll do it" he says.

"Great" I say "meet me at tim's at 7 and ill lay down some terms" I say and walk off.
