I stared at the handwritten numbers on the small sheet of paper, lost in thought. I glanced to my side, San's side of the bed, empty. He left ahead for work hours ago, and all I've been doing since then is sitting here.

I crumpled the piece of paper in my hand and threw it in the basket on my way out of the room. But as soon as my eyes landed on the bouquet over the table, I took two steps back, grabbing the paper from the trash. I should ask him about the flowers first.

The sound of the door lock suddenly clicked, making me shove the note inside my pocket. San opened the door and closed it behind him, mumbling a hello.

"You're home earlier than usual."

He proceeded to our room with just a nod as an answer. I watched as he set his case down and sprawled across the bed, heaving a deep sigh. I followed him to the room, sitting on the edge of the bed. He turned to his side, facing me.

Things were still a bit tense from last night, but that didn't stop him from pulling me down next to him.

"Do you wanna nap with me?" He asked in a gruff voice

"I woke up pretty late though." I answered matching his low tone

"Then just hold me till I fall asleep." He whispered

He laid his head on my chest, wrapping his arms around me. I caressed his head, combing my hands through his hair in the process. He hummed in a deep tone, expressing his satisfaction.

"I know you're not doing well at work San, you don't have to hide it." I spoke softly

He didn't say anything for a few seconds, "I'll be alright."

"Let your frustrations out, you don't need to hold it in when you're with me."

He raised his head up, revealing his sleepy eyes and messy hair that made me chuckle. He smiled at me, pulling himself up more to place a soft kiss on my lips.

"I love you."

My smile stretched from ear to ear at his words, "I love you more."

He placed his head back down on me, "they want to send me abroad."

It went silent for a few seconds while I registered his words, "abroad!?" I yelled out

He sat up completely this time facing me, "and of course I refused, without a second thought." He rushed to explain

I stared at his worry filled eyes that told me that was not everything to the story, "and then what happened?"

"Nothing yet, but the manager requested to see me tomorrow." He sighed

I kept my eyes on him, carefully watching his expression, "did you want to go?" I furrowed my brows

"No, I didn't. She's the one who put my name on the list without checking with me first. That's why I'm in this mess now."

"She? Evelyn?" My expression soured

He paused for a second realizing he let out more details than he planned to, "yeah." He answered anyway

"She's such a pain in-"

"It'll mean trouble for her if I let the manager know about it."

"Then tell him."

"I don't know Leo, if I do that she might hold it against me."

"So what, what's the worst she could do."

"She has connections."
