Silence filled the walls of the house, a result of our own actions from last night. The crumpled remains of the flower bouquet sat in the trash can still. And San's side of the bed was left cold and empty.I leaned my elbows on the kitchen counter as I stared at the message on my phone screen, my fingers hovering over the letters of the keypad.
Yunho had sent me a casual message, asking about yesterday's situation.
-Did you find out who sent them?
My eyes drifted over to the flower petals that must've fallen on the floor when I shoved them down the trash can.
I felt a sense of guilt of some sort, calling him for my own benefit, just to end it with an unusual and, in a way, accusing question.
- I'm sorry for dragging you into my mess
I had replied. My heart jumped a little when I saw that he had opened the message so quickly.
- no worries, I was just curious over who it was
He answered in his usual calm manner. A sense of nostalgia rose up in my chest, his familiarness was comfortable. I quickly tried to shake that dangerous feeling away. But I knew deep inside that I've always selfishly wished he kept his feelings hidden, so things wouldn't have changed.
My hand rested over the coffee machine as it drizzled out my coffee. But the sight of it suddenly didn't seem so appetizing anymore as I began to recall our argument from yesterday.
- I'm not exactly sure myself
- Sounds like you have someone in mind
- well I'm here if you need to let things outI sighed upon reading those words. Nothing good would come out of Yunho learning about any of this.
- thank you, and I'm sorry
A sudden knock on the front door had startled me. San wouldn't have knocked, he has his keys.
A gasp left my lips when I peeked out through the window. It was my mother right in front of the door.
I quickly grabbed my phone again, exiting Yunho's chat to dial San's number. His phone rang but no one had answered the call.
"Pick up." I spoke to myself as I redialed
I took a deep breath and put the phone down, realizing he was never going to answer it.
I didn't know what worried me more, the fact that I have to make an excuse for San if my mother asks, or the fact that I had no idea where San's whereabouts are. Things hadn't been so well the last time she was here, or the time before that. I can't let her know that I hadn't seen nor heard from him since yesterday.
I fisted my hair and paced around before going up to the door after she had knocked again for the third time.
"Liana!" She threw herself at me for a hug
I attempted to return her hug, but my nerves got the best of me. It was quite obvious that she sensed my stiffness before moving away, but she decided against questioning me over it.
"Mom what are you doing here?" I plastered a smile on my face
"I wanted to surprise you," she chuckled, "actually I was here for a get together with some old friends. But I couldn't go back without visiting you first."
"I see." I awkwardly chuckled
"Are you alright? You look a little upset." She suddenly asked
