When Kat started dating Yoongi, she knew it would be hard to find time to see each other, but she didn't know it'd be this hard. It had been three days since she last heard of him, he told her it would get more difficult to talk now, as BTS were making another album, but she never imagined it being this bad.
She figured he could at least find time for a quick text, but even that was asking too much. She managed to get in touch with Hobi, who confirmed Yoongi was "in the zone". Hobi himself was struggling to find free time, but could always shoot a quick text, but Yoongi would completely shut himself off from the world in order to finish his projects.
She knew the best solution for now was to be patient and wait for him to find some time to call or text her.
In the meantime, she was doing promo for her new album with her band. She got so caught up in her own job, that she missed the news about BTS's upcoming visit to the U.S.
It had been nearly a week since Kat last heard from any of the BTS members, and even longer since she last heard from her own boyfriend. She tried calling multiple times, but it was useless, neither her boyfriend nor the rest of the members she had the number picked up. Trying not to overthink it, she drowned herself in work as usual. Her frustrations served as a source of inspiration, and ideas kept pouring in.
So engrossed in her own work, she didn't even hear her doorbell ring. Luckily for Yoongi, he knew the passcode to her home, and was able to enter, despite no one answering the door. With no signs of his girlfriend on the living room or kitchen, he went straight to her home studio, where he knew she would likely be.
The sound of acoustic guitars filled Yoongi's ears, luring him through the hallways, finally into her studio. Kat was so engrossed in her work; she didn't even realize someone else had entered the room. When she turned her chair around to put down her guitar, she had the biggest scare of her life. Kat jumped up from her chair, her hands clasping onto her chest and eyes widened with fear.
Yoongi burst out laughing with her reaction, finding the situation hilarious.
"WHAT THE FUCK YOONGI!?" Kat yelled, as she began slapping his chest.
"Hey, calm down. I was just trying to surprise you." he told her, while trying to calm his laughter down.
"YOU ASSHOLE, YOU SHOULD'VE THOUGHT THIS THROUGH!! What the fuck, what would you think if someone broke into your house after your ex went to jail for that very reason!? I thought it was someone trying to hurt me!" She was still hitting him on the chest, when she broke down sobbing, and holding tightly onto him. Yoongi caressed her hair, and held her, trying to calm her down. He could never have guessed such an innocent gesture would trigger such a reaction from his girlfriend. This also made him realize there was still a lot he did not know about his other half, and it bothered him. She told him her ex was a drug addict, but never went into detail about the things he did to her.
Yoongi continued holding her, until he noticed she had calmed down. He sat her down on the sofa and sat next to her. After being quiet for so long, Yoongi finally spoke up.
"I'm sorry for scaring you, I swear I meant no harm. I just wanted to surprise you, and I thought you'd be happy to see me."
Kat turned around in his arms to take a better look at his face. "Surprise me? You don't reply to my texts, and want to show up to my house to surprise me?"
"I was busy! We will be having a new comeback soon, and I'm also working on a solo project, c'mon! You know better than anyone how this line of work is." Yoongi was taken aback by her reaction; this is definitely not what he had in mind when he thought of surprising her.
"The other members were busy too, but they took a minute out of their day to reply. It doesn't cost that much."
"You should understand me better than anyone else! You've said it yourself, when you're working on something, you completely ignore your phone and the outside world. You're a workaholic yourself, you've done the same before!"
Kat stood up enraged, how could he not see what he had done wrong?
"I did the same to other men, yes. But not anymore, not to you at least! With you it's different, you mean a lot more to me, so I'll always find time to shoot a quick text to you. If I'm busy during the day, then I'll do it right before bed, or just as I wake up. Saying you're busy is no excuse to not say a single word for days at a time! I'm your girlfriend, for crying out loud!"
"Look, I'm sorry for not being a good boyfriend. I didn't know you felt this way. I'll try to do better moving forward, but this is my first solo album ever, I need everything to be absolutely perfect. Can we not fight about this anymore?"
"You're right let's not fight. I wanna enjoy every minute you're here, because I really miss you! Did you at least bring your laptop or the hard drive to show me the album?"
"You best believe I did! I want you to be the first person to listen to it, and I wanna know what you think of it!"
Only then did Kat notice the backpack and laptop bag he was holding. Yoongi was planning on spending the night over. Although Kat was hurt that her boyfriend didn't talk to her for days just because of work, she missed him dearly and his presence was enough to lift her mood. So she went to her studio, Yoongi stopped briefly by her bedroom to drop his backpack, and then he followed her inside.
He set up his laptop and proceeded to play the tracks for his girlfriend. His eyes were on her the whole time, picking up every little reaction she had to all of the small details of the songs. The way her brows furrowed when she focused on listening, the way her feet would tap lightly against the floor according to the song rhythm, and especially the way she'd bite her lip when she was deep in thought, Yoongi found all of these gestures endearing. He had on a small gummy smile as he looked at his girlfriend.
They spent the rest of the night going over his album, as well as some tracks he had produced for BTS, and some songs Kat had been producing lately. Yoongi couldn't help the warm feeling he had on his chest, the way they clicked so well in the studio was incredible. Never did he ever think he could find a partner so perfect, and so similar to him in many aspects. Even their birthdays were only a few days apart!
Once they were done, he cooked dinner for Kat as a way to say sorry for his behavior, and so the couple shared a pleasant meal and some wine, while catching up. He had missed this very much.
Once they were done having dinner, they went to the bedroom, where Kat picked a movie for them to watch, only for Yoongi to fall asleep almost instantly. Kat figured he must've been jetlagged, so she turned off the TV, and cuddled with him. As she snuggled her head in the crook of his neck, he pecked her nose and without opening his eyes, he mumbled:
"I love you. I'm sorry for being a jerk".
Kat wasn't fully asleep yet and could hear his little confession and apology. But sleep got the best of her, and just like that, they both fell asleep in each other's arms.
