Kat slowly rose from her bed at 12 pm the next day, with a pounding headache. She could barely remember what happened the previous night, except for a few moments here and there. She barely had any time to grab some medicine before someone knocking on the door could be heard through her hotel room. "Ughhh, my head is killing me", she said to herself.
"Kat? Are you awake? it's Zeke, open up!"
"Coming, wait a sec."
As she opened the door, there stood her drummer, Zeke. Zeke was one of the first few people she met when she first moved to the U.S. to pursue her music career. Almost as if by fate, the first person she clicked with, in a foreign country, was an amazingly talented drummer looking for musicians to form a metal band with. Not long after, they managed to find the rest of the puzzle pieces: Mike, the lead guitar player and Eddie, the bassist. They started playing small local gigs, and it wasn't long until a video of their performance went viral, and caught the attention of some record executives, scoring them a record deal.
"Hey, how are you feeling? I got you breakfast."
" I feel like shit, and can't remember anything from last night"
"Well, that's to be expected, you drank quite a lot last night. Here, I got you some pancakes from that place down the street, it may help calm your headache. Have you taken anything for your headache? "
"Yeah, I have. Thanks, you didn't need to do all this." Kat mumbled while eating her pancakes.
"It's the least I can do. Just looking after our guitar player and vocalist, to make sure you're in good health to make us win a Grammy next year too" Zeke joked.
"What happened last night after we got our awards? Did I embarrass myself?"
"Not much happened, and you didn't embarrass yourself, don't worry. Although you seem to have made a new friend." He said while chugging down some orange juice.
"Really? Who?"
"One of the guys from BTS I think. Out of nowhere you just intruded on their conversation and started talking in Korean with this dude. Which by the way, I didn't know you could speak?"
"Oh no! That's so embarrassing, I hope I didn't say anything stupid!" Kat said while face palming. "I really like their songs, why couldn't I keep my mouth shut? Now they probably thing I'm just a stupid woman who drinks and talks too much."
"If you ask me, they seemed to be impressed and amused. Don't worry about it. They looked nice too, so they probably just looked at it as a fun interaction. "
They continued to eat their breakfast and making small talk, when a though that had been bothering Kat ever since she woke up, popped up.
"Hey, Zeke? Do you remember me exchanging phone numbers with someone yesterday?"
"No, why?" He replied while cleaning up the hotel room table and getting his stuff together.
"Nothing, I just woke up and saw a phone number on my arm, and I have no idea who it belongs too, or how I got it."
"Well, I guess the only way for you to find out is by calling. Listen, I need to go now, but I'll see you later, take care!"
"Bye, take care"
Zeke left and closed the door behind him, leaving Kat alone with her thoughts. She opened her laptop and tried doing a google search on the phone number inscribed on her arm. And even though she was unable to find out who the mysterious phone number belongs to, she managed to discover it was a Korean phone number.
"No, it can't be..." she mumbled to herself while tapping her chin.
Still, she took the chance and called the number anyways.
