A week had gone by since Kat agreed to terminate her relationship but so far, she had made no progress at all. She kept on going on dates with Kurt and acted as if nothing happened. She did ask him about the allegations, to which he responded saying those events were separate from the actual official band parties.
According to him, the lead singer had distanced himself from the band in the past decades, and finding a new friend circle, and doing everything separately from the rest of the band. They had no idea what he was doing backstage, which Kat found very hard to believe. If she's waiting to go onstage and one of her members isn't anywhere to be seen, she's instantly going to look for him, and see what he's doing.
Everything about it sent shivers down her spine. Picturing the person she let onto her life, hurting and using others as if they were mere objects. In their concerts she had attended, she did notice that the rest of the band would hang out in their dressing room, just smoke and talk, while the lead-singer was gone. So maybe he was saying the truth after all.
She knew saying goodbye to Kurt would be the best decision, but at the same time she didn't want to do it. He had made so many sacrifices for her, he would drop everything in a heartbeat if she asked him to, and that was something she was having trouble saying goodbye. Not to mention how heartbroken he would be, she didn't want to shatter his hopes, after they talked so much about marriage and kids. Sure, it was always him bringing it up, but after entertaining the thought for so long, she grew fond of his plans.
She had spent today in a studio across the city, doing some session work for an up-and-coming artist. The engineer was an asshole and picked on her the whole day. She was tired to say the least. Kurt had called earlier, but she didn't even bother. All she wanted right now was to turn off her phone, get in her bathtub and let the water wash her worries away. Then, maybe order some take out, drink some wine and have a good night of sleep.
But the universe always has a way of ruining plans. As she pulled in her driveway, and got out of her car, she noticed someone standing in front of her porch. As she walked closer and closer, the face of the person got clearer, and she felt her heart speed up.
"Yoongi??"
"You arrived..."
"What are you doing here??"
"I'm here to apologize. Our last few encounters didn't go so well, and I owe you an apology. For not being a better boyfriend, for saying those hurtful things when I was drunk, for using our song and your voice without permission, and for not properly crediting you. I'm sorry, I really am."
"I -"
"Shhhh, you don't need to say anything. I know the last few months were a roller coaster, and I'm sorry for all the pain I've caused you." As Kat walked closer, she could see his eyes glistening from tears. "I'm also here because I'm worried about you. I've seen the news, and I just prayed you were safe and sound. I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you."
"C'mon, Kurt wouldn't let anything happen."
"He let it happen to other people, right under his nose though." Kat fell silent and avoided his gaze completely. Yoongi kept looking at her, trying to interpret her reactions. "Leave him" he spoke in a soft voice, making her lift her eyes to look at him, like a deer caught in headlights. "Leave him, he's no good for you. You need someone who actually cares about your safety." He grabbed her hands and held them tight.
"Why do you care so much?" her voice came out weak. The emotions trapped in her throat made it all the more difficult to speak.
"Because I love you. I never stopped." his voice cracked. "I tried, I wish it would stop. But in the end, no one really caught my heart the way you did. And honestly they probably didn't because my heart was still with you this whole time, no one else could have it. Only you."
After a long moment of silence, Yoongi dropped her hands and started to walk away defeated. What was he expecting anyway? He knew this was a stupid idea, but still, she deserved an apology.
"I still love you too." she said barely above a whisper, half expecting him to not hear it. But he did, it made him stop in his tracks and turn around to look at her. "I thought dating Kurt would make these feelings go away, but they never did. Each day that goes by I love you more, and I hate myself for it. I always thought 'true love' was a ridiculous concept, and that even if some people did find it, I wouldn't, because I wasn't meant to find true love. And when our relationship turned sour, when you weren't there for me, I convinced myself it was because what we had wasn't true love, that you weren't the one for me, that you were like everyone else before you. But the longer I stay away from you, the more I realize how wrong I was, you were my soulmate and I found true love in you."
"Why didn't you say anything sooner?"
"Because I choose to let you go! It wouldn't be fair to then ask you to drop everything and come back. I felt like our relationship wasn't working so I broke up with you. I made that decision, so I had to suffer the consequences."
"We can end our suffering. We can try again. I'm single again, you could break up with Kurt and give this one more chance! We can make it work!"
"Yoongi, it's not that simple, and you know it" she shook her head, trying pointlessly to keep her tears from falling.
"But it is. We love each other. That's all we need!" They stared in each other's eyes for what felt an eternity. Yoongi gently placed his hand on her chin and leaned in for a kiss. She slowly closed her eyes, and let his familiar soft plump lips meet hers. How she missed his kisses!
The taste was still the same, lemony but sweet. Her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck, and his hands pulled her closer to him, holding her up by the waist. They were making up for the lost time, without rushing. Just a slow deep kiss, to satiate the hunger they felt for each other. Time felt like it stopped, the world around them froze. It was just them, getting lost in the moment. Sparks were felt all over, the butterflies were dancing once again. It felt good to touch him again. Maybe too good...
"Stop! I can't do this! I can't do this to Kurt!!" Kat anxiously broke away from the kiss. Her hand on her lips, regretting letting herself kiss him. "I won't do this to him. You need to go. We can't let this get even messier."
Yoongi wanted to stay and make her admit she wanted a take two. He wanted her to drop Kurt and take him back. But he got what she was saying. He respected her wishes and left before things could escalate any further. This was the end, there was nothing else he could do. But at least he got some things out of his chest, and they both got the closure they needed so it wasn't all for nothing.

A/N:
Initially I was going to have them break up for different reasons, but due to the recent court cases against the band that inspired FeuerTieren, I was inspired to go this route.
