In the heart of the grand ballroom, Artemis stood alone on the balcony, her delicate fingers resting atop the ornate railing.

Her expression remained serene, yet there was a faint trace of disappointment in her eyes, a quiet longing for the presence of another to share this evening's celebration.

The laughter and music from within the ballroom seemed distant, like a world she no longer belonged to.

'Why has Lady Navier captured my heart so effortlessly, when I never stood a chance to begin with?'

Artemis sighed deeply, her thoughts swirling as her gaze fell on the glistening moon above. There was a sense of hopeless resignation in her chest, an ache that tightened with each silent confession.

A bitter, quiet laugh escaped her lips as she pressed the cool rim of her wine glass to her lower lip, lingering before taking a sip.

"What did I expect?" she murmured softly, her voice tinged with self-reproach. "I was nothing more than a coward, too afraid to even try... a love that was only ever mine, unspoken and unreturned."

As the moonlight bathed her in its silver glow, casting soft shadows over her light-blue gown that hugged her frame gracefully, Artemis took another sip of her wine.

Her mind drifted far from the vibrant celebration behind her, lost in the quiet solitude of her unspoken love.

Unbeknownst to her, Kosair, Navier's brother, entered the balcony in search of fresh air, his steps slowing as he caught sight of her.

From a distance, his gaze lingered on the figure before him-a woman with hair as white as freshly fallen snow, touched with golden ends that shimmered in the moonlight. Her slim form was accentuated by the light-blue dress she wore, a vision of ethereal beauty. He paused, watching her in silence, unaware of the emotions that clouded her thoughts.

A single bead of sweat trickled down Kosair's temple as he stepped onto the balcony, her presence a subtle but undeniable force that made him momentarily tense.

He quickly dismissed the sensation, attributing it to his unfamiliarity with foreigners, and chose to take his place beside her, maintaining a comfortable distance.

After all, he doubted she'd acknowledge him-her poised demeanor suggested otherwise.

Artemis's emerald eyes, sharp and perceptive, shifted toward the tall man as she became aware of his approach. Her gaze lingered, slowly drifting down his form, taking in every detail with quiet curiosity.

Her eyes narrowed slightly, half-lidded as a thought crossed her mind. 'This man... he has a well-built, masculine figure, and his features... they bear a striking resemblance to Lady Navier's. Could he be her brother?'

Her assessment was quick but thorough, her curiosity piqued by the strong similarity between him and the woman who held her heart.

Kosair, sensing her lingering gaze, grew increasingly uneasy despite keeping his eyes fixed on the night sky. The feeling of her focused attention, both observant and perhaps even intrigued, made him shift subtly in place.
