After the wedding was finally over and the much tearful bidaai of my sister, I had left for my house too. Only for one reason —to avoid people.

It was funny how I used to laugh upon Krishiv when he used to say that privacy is worth more than anything for him. And now I'm acting just like him because now I understand that he was right. My mother is trying to push another girl forcefully into my life and when I want to talk, she says she is busy.

She does not understands at all that she is giving false hope to someone. It can trigger Mitali to an extent that she'll end up doing something wrong with herself or anyone around her.

It's been two days since Ishi's bidaai, and I haven't visited the palace, reason being the same, plus one, my sister isn't there to cheer my mood up. But I need to have a chat with Maa-sa. And thus, I decided to drive myself back to the palace.

Pulling the engine off, I stepped down from my car and made my way directly  towards my mother's room. My eyes consumed the sight of my mother sitting on the sofa and talking with some assistant.

I knocked on the door.

"Yes, Devansh, come in."

I stepped inside and directly said, "I need to talk with you something personal."

"Manners? Devansh?"

I fisted my hand in frustration, my knuckles would have surely whitened out. I moved forward and touched her feet. She placed her palm on my head and I straightened myself up.

"Give us some privacy," I said to the assistant and she left us alone with a curt nod to me. I sat beside her on the sofa and asked in a soft and respectful tone,

"You gave your words to Mitali's parents regarding our wedding?"

She didn't seemed much surprised as she nodded her head, "Yes, I gave my words, a month ago." I knitted my brows together.

"How can you, Maa-sa? It's my life, at least you would have asked me once," How can she even do that with me. And surprising thing for me was, she didn't had even a single line of guilt on her face.

"I thought you liked her from the very beginning. You never protested when Devishi and Krishiv used to tease you with her name," she spoke so casually like it was some normal thing for her to talk with me.

"But–"

"Don't tell me that you will go against my words now," her voice came out strict, the same strictness that she would use upon me and my siblings in the childhood. But we aren't kids anymore, for fuck's sake. I wiped my sweat on the face with my palm, "I cannot marry her."

"I HAVE GIVEN MY WORDS !"

"I can't."

Her eyes widened upon listening my words. Well, that was expected. Probably it was the very first time I was denying her for something, and the bigger point was, she had given her words to someone and I was stepping back.
