He kneeled down in front of me and I widened my eyes out of reaction.
"Jahanvi," he said softly, his voice carrying over the gentle lapping of the lake water. His eyes, as deep and rich as the royal blue of the entire Jodhpur, were fixed on me. His hand trembled slightly as he opened the velvet box to reveal a stunning ring.
Where did he get the ring from? This— was this all planned?
Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at the ring, a beautiful solitaire diamond set in a platinum band. I was overwhelmed with emotions — joy, disbelief, love. My heart pounded in my chest, and I could barely manage a whisper. "Raja-sa... you're really...?”
"I am, my love," he murmured, his voice sounding thick with emotion.
His gaze flicked to where his younger brother , and my sister stood together, watching us.
Inhaling a deep breath, he muttered while looking directly into my eyes, "Today, I'm not the Maharajah of Jodhpur kneeling before you, Jahanvi. I'm just a man, deeply, irrevocably and madly in love with you. From the moment I first saw you, your beauty and spirit captivated me. You've brought light and laughter into my life, challenging me, supporting me, loving me unconditionally. With you by my side, I feel like the luckiest man in the world, title be damned.”
My eyes felt so wet and blurry.
"The house in which I live in, that's not my home, baby, YOU'RE MY HOME, my safe haven, my best friend, my life. Every moment with you is a blessing. I promise to cherish, protect, and adore you for all eternity, baby. Will you marry me, make me the happiest man alive, and be my wife?”
Tears streamed down my face as I stared at him, this powerful man — reduced to a nervous suitor before me. The love in his eyes was unmistakable, and I could barely believe that this was real.
“Will you be my life-partner, my LEGALLY and OFFICIALLY wedded wife?”
I let out a soft laugh, smiling through my tears.
“Say YES, bhabhi-sa. Fuck him, I propose you to be my Bhabhi-sa for life!” Kunwar-sa shouted, holding his phone in his hand, probably recording us and I laughed.
“Say yes, please. Marry me. Give me a chance to be your husband. Please.”
I nodded, my voice barely a whisper. "Y-yes, Raja-sa.”
"Yes?" he repeated, an instant radiant smile spreading across his handsome face. He reached out, slowly, gently taking my hand and sliding the ring onto my finger. Tears of happiness rolled down my eyes. It fit perfectly, as if it was made for me.
Dev rose to his feet, pulling me into his arms for a tight hug, and Kunwar-sa and Priya hooted with happiness.
"I love you, Jahanvi," he whispered, his forehead resting against mine. "And I cannot wait to call you my wife, for life."
