Priya was standing near the window and crying her lungs out. I stood behind her and whispered, "I'm sorry, Priya."
She didn't reply.
"I know I'm at fault. I should have kept extra care. Nothing - no revenge, no apology can bring Kaka-sa back. And I'm so sorry for that. Sorry is a mere word. I don't know how to apologize. You lost your father indirectly because of me, and trust me, I made sure the ones who did this suffer and rot behind the bars. Trust me."
She said without turning around,
"You know she was obsessed with you. You should have dealt with her first then you should have tried to mend the relationship between Bai-sa and you because at the end of the day, everyone knew she would come back to you. Do you realize how much it hurts when you lose your father and don't even get a chance to say a final goodbye?"
I smiled weakly,
"I do, Priya. I do. I know what great pain you must be going through. I lost my father when I was a child. A small child. Who didn't know what the world would hold for him. I understand the pain when you don't get to say a final goodbye to your loved ones. I understand why you are being so angry towards us. Be angry with me, but forgive your sister. She herself is at loss. She herself is going through the guilt that all this happened because of her."
"She b-broke up with me the very moment she found out that it happened because of us. I - the titular king of Jodhpur begged someone for the first time to stay back, but she refused and asked me to let her go only for the safety of her family."
Priya slowly turned around to look at me and I nodded my head.
"She needs your and your mother's support the most right now. Don't leave her alone.. don't blame her. Please. You can blame me all you want, but please, be with her, she needs you."
She bit her lower lip and nodded her head slowly in acceptance.
A small smile appeared on my lips and I murmured, "Thank you."
She didn't reply back, because her eyes were not on me anymore, she was looking behind me. I followed her gaze and my eyes fell on Krishiv who was standing on the door. As soon as he saw me, he left his ears he had been holding since I don't know when, as the apology for his dear life.
Krishiv walked inside and stood just behind me. He murmured, "How did you apologize, Bhai-sa?"
I suppressed a laugh at the very serious moment in front of me. "I don't know," I said.
"How do you say sorry to Jah-" Priya cut him off,
"Why did you say that? Do you really think I'm that selfish?" Her eyes were teary.
"He is a f-" Krishiv cut me off as he stepped forward and my eyes widened when he held her hand and pulled her close in his embrace.
Oh God, what's happening?
