I don't know how, but Kunwar-sa Krishiv is brilliant. Just brilliant. I would have never agreed to come along with him if he wouldn't have manipulated me and my parents in such a way that clearly seemed impossible to me the whole time. My God. He even got Priyanjali out of our home for the first time ever.FLASHBACK. 💌
It had been days since I had last seen him. Since I had felt his presence, his warmth, the sense of belonging that seemed to engulf me whenever he was near. The last time I saw him was in Devishi’s bidaai. Crying. Lost. But everything was too heavy now—our love, his title, the throne, the expectations. I was caught in the middle of it all, too fragile to hold on, but too weak to let go.
Just as I was about to say something to Priya, the front door creaked open. I heard voices—familiar, but completely unexpected. I left our room and hurried to the front of the house. There, standing with his usual cocky smile, was Kunwar-sa.
Kunwar-sa Krishiv. God. What is he doing here? What in the world is he doing here?
My father and mother weren't too surprised to be honest, because he has started visiting me often. Maa-sa and baapu-sa know that we share a brother and sister bond. Maa-sa was already in the kitchen preparing tea for him and Baapu-sa was standing beside the sofa. While Kunwar -sa , being who he was, had already settled comfortably into the room as if he had known my parents his whole life. It was like he was born to charm people into forgetting their reservations.
“Kunwar-sa?” I asked, stepping into the room. “What are you doing here?”
He turned, flashing me a grin that was far too smug for my liking. “Hi, Jahanvi.” He wiggled his eyebrows before turning back to my parents, giving them his full attention. “I’ve come to fetch Jahanvi and her sister, Kaka-sa, ” he said, as casually as if he were asking for a cup of chai.
My mother frowned, her brows knitting together in concern. “Kunwar-sa? As you said that you all are planning something for Rajkumari, I can understand, Jahanvi can go but Priyanjali can’t leave the house. You know about her condition. She’s far too delicate to be outside—”
“That's the thing, Kaki-sa ! After Jahanvi told me everything about her sister's condition, I’ve been talking to a few of my doctors—some of the best minds in the country—and they all say that sunlight and fresh air are incredibly important for someone like her. Keeping her inside is only going to make things worse.”
His voice was so confident that I frowned. What the hell got inside of him and since when is he seeing doctors for my sister? Is he talking for real? or is he simply bluffing his way into getting what he wants?
My father’s lips tightened as he glanced at my mother. “But—”
“No buts, Kaka-sa,” Kunwar-sa interrupted smoothly. “She’s coming with me, and so is Jahanvi. I’m taking them for just a couple of hours. You can trust me. Please, kaka-sa, kaki-sa.”
