The darkness closes in once again. Dark clouds roll in from every which direction suffocating everything in their path.
I can hear the footsteps growing louder coming from down the hall and soon the smell of alcohol will invade my senses. Every hair on my body stands on edge as I squeeze my eyes shut when I see the shadow stirring through the crack at the bottom of the door.
Maybe I could hide? My mind runs wild as I think of the possibilities of my escape in the very small window of time that I have only to be too late to make a decision when the door slowly creeks open allowing the smell of smoke and alcohol to take over the once orange scented room causing bile to rise in my throat.
I swallow back hard fighting away my tears trying to calm my erratic thoughts.
"Breathe in.....breathe out... Just breathe" I tell myself over and over again just hoping it would all be over soon.
Minutes....or hours pass by, I can't really be sure, until I am finally left raw and sore and the echo of a broken child screams please no more.....
